Generally anything he can chew. He has very strong teeth, so he likes rope or tightly sewn squeaky toys. We tend to stay away from strong bones.

During our walks, he likes to suddenly without warning lie on his back and stubbornly not get up. People always smile and laugh as they walk by, as when we drag him slightly upside down, he gets a good back scratch on the street.

Why is Russell Being Rehomed?

We currently have another Australian Shepherd and our lifestyle is no longer conducive to having two pets. We are planning to travel a lot in future and it is increasingly difficult to find dog care for two dogs.

Russell is a bit more of a challenge to find a sitter, as he generally can’t be trusted on to get along other dogs (kennels are not an option) and most of our friends have small children that we want to avoid Russell being around because of his extreme excitability.

He needs a lot of exercise and we don’t feel we can provide him the full care and attention he deserves as our life has now evolved into a more mobile one. We love him dearly, but feel he would be much better off with someone that can give him all he deserves as he is a wonderful and incredibly loving dog.

Russell’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Someone that does not have small children or other pets at home. Someone that can give him plenty of exercise and someone who is agile enough to keep hold of him as he tends to pull on walks and is quite strong. But ultimately, someone that will provide him a loving home.

We are very open to staying in touch with whomever and will be very open to covering vacations for them. We love Russell and don’t want him gone entirely from our lives. This is a hard decision to come to but we want Russell to have the best little fur life he can and our lifestyles and residence at this time isn’t the best for that.
