Kurt is a male Border Collie Labrador Retriever mix puppy for adoption to a very loving home in or near Arlington VA. This very special Black Lab mix is just 8 months years old and weighs 40 pounds.  Kurt is one very awesome puppy. He is very healthy and has no behavior issues. He has been neutered and is up to date on shots, as well as micro-chip.

Kurt is very well behaved and gets along with other dogs and cats. He is amazing with children and friendly to people of all ages and sizes. Kurt is part clown, part dog. He can make anyone laugh with his sometimes goofy personality. He’s very charming and just a really nice dog.

Kurts’ owner is dealing with a lot of sadness having made the decision to rehome Kurt. This is a decision he is making for Kurt’s benefit. They are living in a small apartment with no room for Kurt to play. The owner is going to school as well as working, there simply are not enough hours in a day to provide the companionship, exercise and play time that Kurt needs and very much deserves.

He is dearly hoping to find Kurt a great family who can give him all the things that are lacking in his current situation; a nice big house with a fenced in back yard, a schedule that allows lots of time to focus on Kurt, some great kids to play with him, and maybe even another dog to go on back yard adventures with.

Kurt is adorable, loyal, goofy and nice. He’s a good dog and relatively obedient for his age, but our lifestyles are just not working out right now.

Kurt’s Current Home Environment

About a month ago, I moved into an apartment in Arlington, Virginia. Kurt and I had been living previously in a house in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and I thought I could make the move work, but being a student and having a job, I’m really struggling to give Kurt the time, care and space he needs.

Kurt’s Current Family:

I live with my girlfriend in an apartment in Arlington, Virginia. He gets excited around new people but is nice once he gets used to them. We have a cat here too, and he loves to play with him, but never hurts or barks at him.

Kurt’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He is on a diet of Hill’s Science Diet Large Breed Puppy Feed. He has several chew toys and likes to play tug and go on walks.

Cute Kurt Story:

When he was 4 months old, he and I went to the beach in North Carolina. He was still learning his footing at this time and had never swam before, so when we went out on the dock, he fell into the ocean! He quickly swam back to shore and he was wagging his tail, so I guess he liked it.

Why is Kurt Being Rehomed?

I moved up to Arlington because I am going to school up here, as well as working up here. I thought I could handle the move, but being preoccupied with school and work for much of the day, as well as having a small apartment, isn’t a recipe for success with a young dog. I have been really struggling to sleep and get what I need to do done and I know that it isn’t fair to have him in this environment.

Kurt’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A nice family that has plenty of room for Kurt to wander and play!

Additional Comments:

Kurt’s a great dog, I just can’t give him the care he needs right now and we are having a negative effect on each other. I feel terrible and pathetic for having to rehome him but I think it’s the best decision for both of us.
