Australian Cattle Dog Mix for Adoption in Seattle, WA

Looking for an Australian Cattle Dog to adopt in Seattle, Washington? Just 2 years old and weighing 60 lbs, Suki Su is one of those dogs that can steal your heart within minutes of meeting her. She’s adorable, silly, playful, super smart and a very devoted little dog, who in the right setting will really shine!

Suki Su has been fully vaccinated, spayed, micro-chipped, house trained, crate-trained, leash-trained and even obedience trained. She is in perfect health, and an all-round great dog.

Suki Su was adopted from a rescue. Many Australian Cattle Dogs end up in shelters and rescues because their owners do not understand the breed’s unique mindset and needs. These dogs were bred for a specific purpose – to herd livestock and protect them from predators on a farm or ranch. They are rough and tumble dogs that take their work very seriously.

They need to be able to control their environment, which makes them quite unsuitable for the role of family dog where small children are concerned. They need to be in a home where there is a strong routine and order to the day, where they get lots of exercise and mental stimulation, and where they don’t have to greet a lot of visitors.

These dogs are referred to as “heelers”, since they “nip at the heels” of livestock to move them along. This behavior can translate to nipping at children if the dog feels it has lost control of the “herd”.

Suki Su is just such a dog, and is in need of a new home where she gets lots of attention, exercise and activities that challenge her sharp mind. She would thrive on a farm, ranch or acreage, but a home with a large, securely fenced yard, another dog-friendly dog to play with, and any kids older than 10. She has so many amazing qualities and a personality that really sets her apart.

Suki Su’s owner is hoping to find a new home for Suki Su where she will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for the remaining years of her life. It’s so important that this be her last rehoming – she deserves the stability and comfort of knowing this is will be her “forever home”.

Suki Su – Australian Cattle Dog For Adoption in Seattle WA

Suki Su’s Personality

Suki-su is a brilliant, hilarious and sweet 2 year-old Australian Cattle. She is fantastic with other dogs and connects intensely to her people. Suki loves to play (with balls, sticks, stuffies and other dogs), loves to explore the outdoors (hiking, walking, jogging) and loves to roll and lie in the grass. She needs stimulation and connection–through playtime with balls, the dog park and hiking. She likes full body contact and at times still pulls on the leash.

Why is Suki Su Being Rehomed?

She also has a strong prey drive and, after seven months of working with her, we have come to accept that we cannot trust her with our cats. Because the cats were here first, we’ve decided we need to find her a home where she can be her full self and not bounded by the need for other creatures to live their own full lives.
