Ollie is what we call a ” ready-to-love” dog. This adorable adoptable Australian Shepherd dog has been fixed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, house-trained, crate-trained and leash-trained – all you need to add is lots of love, care, companionship, and plenty of daily activity.
Ollie is one of the most loveable dogs you will ever meet. He loves his humans with all his heart. He, like most herding dogs, is also incredibly smart and always aware of his surroundings. He likes to be in control, protecting the “herd” and keeping danger at bay.
Ollie is the right dog in the wrong home. With a baby and small children in his home, he is definitely not able to keep things under control. This seems to cause Ollie a good amount of anxiety, and when you add visitors to the mix, he has “air nipped” a visitor or two, to keep them from mixing in with his herd. He is clearly not a happy dog in this situation, and his owners are concerned for his well-being and happiness.
As much as it breaks their hearts to do so, they are dearly hoping to find the right home for Ollie, where this very special boy will be cherished and kept safe, happy and healthy for the many remaining years of his life.
Ollie’s ideal home will be an orderly one. Chaos and Ollie are not good friends, so a strong routine, a quiet home (ideally in the countryside), owners who can give Ollie plenty of outdoor activity and mental stimulation, and, above all, unconditional love and a commitment to be Ollie’s owners for life is what his owners are hoping to find for him.

♥ Health Problems:
He has a reoccurring hot spot on his left arm. We have been caring for it for sometime with vet visits. He just went to the vet yesterday to have it treated and we now have medication/antibiotics.
♥ Behavior Issues:
Ollie is a a very lovable and good dog at his core. He is our family member, and we love him so much. However, he has become recently protective of our family with strangers and outside family members. We have a 5 month old baby as well as 2 other children, and this has escalated his protective and cautious instincts.
He has nipped 2 family members within he past few days–he did not break skin–and then growled and lunged at the vet yesterday. We had a muzzle on him at the time. In a quiet, more orderly home where he will not be anxious and on alert, he will be an amazing family companion.
We have been to puppy training, and hired a personal trainer who has been absolutely amazing. He has made incredible progress and we are so proud of him. However, we need to rehome him now that we understand that living with small children and the ensuing chaos causes Ollie anxiety, which fuels his testy behavior.

Ollie ‘s Personality
Very lovable, high energy, protective, cautious, very food motivated, and loves a peaceful environment to unwind. We have had him since he was a puppy and he has loved growing up with our 3 children.
Ollie thrives during training/practice sessions and knows many tricks. Ollie can sit, lay down, spin, crawl, play dead, stay, come, doggie push ups (sit/lay down/sit/lay down), and is willing to learn even more skills. Even though his is 74 lbs, he thinks he is a lap dog and likes to cuddle with us and sit on our laps. He is beautiful too with gorgeous markings. We have a neighbor with a golden retriever, and she is his best friend.
Why is Ollie Being Rehomed?
Our home environment is making Ollie very anxious. This anxiety is causing him to be hyper-vigilant where visitors are concerned, as if he feels he needs to protect his kids (or keep the herds separated). This recently caused him to lightly nip a couple of visiting relatives. He was also aggressive with the vet when he was being examined.
This behavior is so foreign to how loveable a dog Ollie really is. We feel it is necessary to find a home for Ollie that is more suited to his need for order so that his anxiety will dissipate.
We have made this very difficult decision that is not taken lightly for us. We have fought very hard to keep him. However, we are unable to give him what he needs to be the amazing dog we know he is capable of being. He is an incredible and loyal dog, perfect for a family with older children and a quiet, orderly home. (A strong routine will help Ollie tremendously).
