Looking for a Black Cat to adopt in Calgary, AB? Just 7 years old and weighing 12 pounds, Porkchop has been fixed, fully vaccinated and litter box trained. Pork Chop gets along with cat-friendly dogs, cats, respectful older children and adults..

Porkchop’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished cat. They are hoping to find a new home for Porkchop where he will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for the remaining years of his life.

Pork Chop has had an interesting life so far. He has been living an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with his best friend, another cat with whom he spent all his time, mousing and being free on his owner’s acreage with access to a mud room, where his litter box, cat bed and food was kept, and he could come and go through a pet door. His owner, who suffers from severe cat allergies was able to enjoy the cats in their room, but keep their dander out of the rest of the home.

Tragically, Pork Chop’s BFF became sick and had to be humanely euthanized, leaving Pork Chop all alone. His owner worries that Pork Chop is lonely on his own, and is looking for a home where he can adapt to becoming an indoors cat, with possible access to a secluded, securely fenced back yard when weather permits.

Pork Chop will be rehomed with all supplies and vet records. All you need to add is unconditional love and a safe, happy and healthy home for this very handsome and special feline.

Not really behaviour issues but he isn’t just a regular cats. Porkchop is a semi-tame barn cat. He uses a litter box but prefers to live outside. He loves dogs, hasn’t really met a lot of cats.

Porkchop’s Personality

He is fairly shy. Sweet cat once he gets to know you. Allows us to cut his nails and hold him a bit, but prefers a bit of distance. He loves food and treats and will headbutt you for a can of wet food. Loves dogs and is good at the vet. He never bites or scratches us when we need to groom or tend to him.

Why is Porkchop Being Rehomed?

We live on an acreage. 7 years ago a lady down the street had about 20 kittens living under her deck so we took 2 little black males. We built them a heated shed and fenced off 1/4 acre for them to live in. In the winter they have access through our garage to our back mudroom. 2 weeks ago one of the cats back legs became paralyzed and we had to put him down. We don’t want Porkchop to live out the rest of his life alone and are not able bring in another cat.

We are trying to think of several options, this is just one. We want him to have a life he is happy with.
