Bailey is not just another Labrador Retriever German Shepherd mix dog for adoption; she’s a bundle of joy and a loyal companion who loves to shadow her humans wherever they go. Bailey is an intelligent and affectionate pet who loves nothing more than playing outdoors, chasing balls, engaging in a game of tug-of-war, and then relaxing at home.

Bailey’s personality is a delightful mix of playful and laid back. Despite her young age, this black beauty shows a mature side at home, displaying a relaxed demeanor. However, her puppy exuberance shines when she’s out playing or greeting her favorite humans. Like all Labs, Bailey is also a foodie at heart, always ready to work for a tasty treat.

This sweet girl comes with an array of favorite toys, which include chewy toys, squeaky toys, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, kong balls, Himalayan chews, and tug-of-war playthings. Bailey has also a penchant for durable chew bones, which keep her entertained for hours.

One of the heartwarming things about Bailey is her unique way of welcoming people. She greets you with such joy that it almost seems like she’s smiling! And then she raises her paw and leans into your legs, signaling that she wants a hug. This adorable gesture is Bailey’s trademark, and she won’t stop until she gets her much-desired hug.

Although Bailey is a tremendous family dog, she would thrive best in a household with older children or no children. Bailey has been living with a family with young children who, despite their love for her, can sometimes be too loud or rough.

Bailey has shown signs of nervousness and fear around them, and while she has been patient and there have been no aggressive incidents, it’s clear she would be more comfortable in a quieter home environment.

What Type of Home Would Bailey do Best in?

Bailey’s ideal adoptive family would have older children or just adults. She would love a family who appreciates a “velcro dog” who craves companionship and follows her humans around. A family who enjoys walks would be perfect for Bailey, or one that has a large backyard where she can run freely and fetch her ball.

Being such a smart dog, Bailey is really enjoying learning her commands. A patient family willing to continue her training would be ideal. Bailey is better off leash; like many dogs, having a leash on her makes her feel threatened by other dogs.

She is perfectly fine with dogs off the leash at dog parks or doggy day care, and happy to run and play in her fenced yard.  This may be a better choice for exercise than to do leash walks.

If you’re looking for an adorable, affectionate, and loyal Black Labrador Retriever to become a first hand member of your family, Bailey might just be the perfect fit for you.

With her endearing personality and zest for life, Bailey is sure to bring love, laughter, and happiness into your home.

Bailey’s Personality

Bailey is a smart and loyal companion who loves to follow her humans around the house like a shadow. She loves people and enjoys being around them as much as possible. Bailey loves being outside running around chasing balls or playing tug of war.

She loves the dog park and enjoys going to doggie daycare and playing with her friends. She is very sweet and is eager to please. She enjoys giving and receiving any affection. In the house she is a laid back dog, especially for her age.

We see the puppy side of Bailey come out in the excitement with which she greets others and displays when playing outside. She is very food driven and loves working for treats.

Bailey’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Chewy toys, squeaky toys, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, kong balls, Himalayan chews, tug of war toys, any long standing chew bone.

Cute Bailey Story:

When Bailey greets you at the door she so happy to see you that it actually looks like she is smiling and will attempt to give you her version of a hug which is lifting her paw toward you and leaning into your legs. She will continue to do this until you give her the hug.

Why is Bailey Being Rehomed?

Bailey is a great family dog but would be best suited for a family with either older children or no children. We adopted her in January and was told she has been around children and been okay with them, but no further information was provided on the age.

We have 2 small children, age 4 and 7 who are constantly running around and playing. At times they can be loud or too rough with Bailey, despite daily reminders and examples of how to treat Bailey gently and respectfully.

Unfortunately, this is not consistent, being they are children and will act up or be loud. Over the past few months Bailey has become more nervous and fearful around them. She is mostly patient with them and there have been no bites but there have been a few incidents of barking or snapping at them.

We don’t want Bailey to be stressed in her environment and want to prevent any incidents that could be more aggressive. Again, this is no fault of Bailey’s. When other children have come over she is very friendly and welcoming.

We want her to be comfortable in her own home and think she would thrive in a home that does not have younger children.

Bailey’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I’m looking for a family that has older or no kids. She will enjoy a family that is ok with a “velcro” dog who loves to follow her humans around. She loves spending time outside, so a home with a large, fenced yard would be perfect for her.

Bailey takes her family’s safety and security very seriously and will bark at other dogs walking by the house, or at delivery or service people. We are working on resolving this behavior, and currently use treats to distract her, then plenty of praise when she has successfully refrained from her barking.

Bailey is such an amazing dog. She will add so much love and joy to the lives of her new owners.
