Hendrix is a gorgeous black Cockapoo for adoption in Calgary Alberta. 4 years old and weighing 20 pounds, Hendrix is a sweet, playful and very affectionate dog that loves to follow his owner around the house and provide unlimited unconditional love. This adorable black Cockapoo is very healthy and has been fixed, fully vaccinated and house-broken.

Hendrix is the perfect dog in the wrong environment. He is extremely nervous around children and other pets, and has shown this in his behaviour; pacing, panting and barking as if to say “Get me out of here!”. He has bitten one of the children in the home when they were playing and running around in the kitchen. Hendrix has also bitten adults, however these incidents happened when he was cornered or surprised.

We believe that once Hendrix is placed in a very calm environment with just 1 special person, he will do much better. His anxiety and aggression is clearly due to fear and anxiety. Once the things he fears are taken away, he should be a very happy and well-behaved dog.

We are looking for a very special and specific home for Hendrix. Ideally, a senior or retired dog lover who can give him a happy life without the stressful situations that cause him anxiety. He needs an owner that is home all the time, but at the same time can give him the exercise he needs to stay happy and healthy. There should be no children in the home, and any visitors need to know that he will bite if they try to befriend him before he is ready.

He will provide unlimited joy and companionship to the right owner. He is a very loving and devoted little fellow.

Hendrix’s Personality

Hendrix is active and playful. He is also very anxious, and rarely calm. He is much calmer when the house is quiet, and there are no children around, but around kids, he pants, paces, barks, etc. He needs a lot of calm, and patience. He likes a LOT of attention and will follow around his favourite person. He should not be around children or other animals.

-He is a good running companion (can run at least 5km without needing a break)

-ALL food it seems (very food driven)

Why is Hendrix Being Rehomed?

Our dog recently bit our son for no foreseeable reason. My son was running around with his sister in the kitchen, and Hendrix came up and bit him in the leg. He has bitten several other grown ups but in more predictable circumstances (like them trying to corner him into a space or breaking up a dog fight). This unpredictable bite has left us worried we cannot prevent him biting our children again, and thus feel Hendrix is not safe to be around children.

Hendrix’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

A quiet home with adults who do not have children. Preferably a house without another dog or cat. Hendrix does get along with some dogs and not others, and it’s difficult to predict which dogs he will get along with (but definitely not puppies)

Additional Comments:

It would mean SO MUCH to my heartbroken children if they were able to keep in touch with Hendrix. They are very torn up over this.
