Hi, My name is Evie!

Evie - mixed breed dog for adoption 10

If you are looking for a dog that is 100% sunshine, I’m your girl! I am a gorgeous Yellow lab mix with a heart of gold and the most dazzling smile of any dog you will meet. I am only 2 and a half years old. I am very healthy. I have been spayed and am up to date on my shots. I will bring my veterinary records with me to my new home. I am medium sized at 42 pounds. I live with my owner in Denver, Colorado.

I am a real cuddle-bug. I love to snuggle and am extremely affectionate. I love people and enjoy hanging out at home and going for walks and runs in my neighborhood. I am good with other dogs, too. I haven’t had a lot of experience around children, but Labrador Retrievers are one of the best kid breeds out there. I would probably do very well with some great kids who are old enough to know not to poke eyes, pull tails or squeeze the living daylights out of me. Like most Labs, I am a real foodie. When I am around other dogs, I sometimes guard my food, so I should not be free-fed in a home with other dogs.

My owner loves me very much and wants the very best for me. Unfortunately she has health issues that make it very difficult for her to provide me with the attention, care and exercise I need and very much deserve. As much as it breaks her heart to do so, she is hoping to find me the home I deserve with a family who will cherish me. I would love to have a nice, securely fenced back yard to play in, and people who have lots of time to spend with me. I want to be your focus – not an afterthought.

Whether you are a single, couple or family with some great kids for me to play with, I will make a wonderful companion. I am house trained and leash trained, very well behaved, and an absolute delight.

Evie’s Personality

1. Her smile. She has the biggest smile and my absolute favorite thing to do with her is take her for a walk because she always smiles so big that everyone we pass on the street sees her smile and then smiles too.
2. How she greets me when I come home. She immediately runs over and is so happy. She rubs up onto your legs and nuzzles her head against you.
3. How she treats her stuffed animals. She always has a favorite that she takes with her everywhere. She’ll sleep next to her stuffed animal.
4. How affectionate she is towards me. She likes to cuddle and be close.
5. Her energy. She loves going for runs.

Evie’s Current Home Environment

She lives in a condo that has a porch and a fenced in area out back. She lives with another dog (older black lab) and two people.

Evie’s Current Family:

My family is just me and Evie.

Evie’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

She loves stuffed animals, peanut butter and running.

Cute Evie Story:

Somehow Evie always knows when something is wrong, when I’m having a bad day and need extra love. On those days, she stays real close and she will cuddle up to me and give me a lick. She typically doesn’t lick me, but when she knows I need some love, she will, as if she is saying, I’m here and I love you.

Evie’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I think the ideal family for Evie would be a couple with a yard. She needs a lot of human attention and so it is best for there to be at least two people, so that she isn’t left alone a ton. She has a lot of energy so someone who would take her for walks or runs. She currently lives with another dog and she gets along with her and we have had no problems, but Evie can get food aggressive towards dogs if they try to take her food (I’ve seen this happen with smaller dogs and puppies). She plays with dogs really well but it is best for food not to be around when she is around other dogs.
