Chocolate Lab For Adoption

Beautiful Ezra received numerous adoption offers once our rehoming team began the search for her forever family. The perfect home was decided upon by her owners, and Ezra is now leading a charmed and stair-free existence in her new home. Congratulations, Ezra!

Here is how our rehoming team presented Ezra to attract her new owners:

Hi, My name is Ezra!

Chocolate lab for adoption

I am a very big, very beautiful purebred Silver Labrador Retriever. I am just 5 years old, have been spayed, am up to date on my shots, and very healthy. I weigh 110 pounds! That’s a lot of LOVE on 4 legs! I currently live with my loving family in Tipp City, OH, near Dayton.

I love people, children older than 12 and other dogs. Small children tend to make me anxious, so I am not suited to homes with small children. I’m probably OK with cats,  although we have never been formally introduced!

So you are probably wondering why such an AMAZING dog is looking for a new home, aren’t you? My family loves me SO MUCH that they want to do what is best for me. You see, I am TERRIFIED of stairs.

We lived on an acreage for the first 4 years of my life in a ranch house where all the bedrooms were on the main floor. About a year ago, we moved to a house with lots of steps. Steps to get in the house… steps to go to the bedrooms…

Because of the fear of steps that I have developed, I spend a lot of time by myself. Isolated. It makes us all so very sad.

For my happiness and well-being, my family is hoping to find me a loving home where stairs will not be an issue. The ideal home for me would be as a companion for a single older gentleman or couple who live in a ranch style home and can spend lots of time with me. I love to be active outdoors, but my favorite pastime is showing you lots of love and devotion.

Here are the things my owners love the most about me!

She is very smart, we joke about her knowing what we are talking about.
She has a great sense of smell, perfect for playing fetch with or could be taught to be a great hunting dog.
She’s very affectionate, will lick you clean.
She is a very fast leaner and know some hand signals.
She loves adventures and running on land.

Please offer me a loving home today. I would be a fantastic hunting companion. My main needs are a home where the bedrooms are on the main level, people who have lots of time to spend with me (I don’t want to be left home alone all day).

Ezra’s Personality

She is very smart, we joke about her knowing what we are talking about.
She has a great sense of smell, perfect for playing fetch with or could be taught to be a great hunting dog.
She’s very affectionate, will lick you clean.

Ezra’s Current Home Environment

We moved from a 50 acre farm to a neighborhood with lots of activity. Two children who are very active. The home Ezra was a puppy in was a ranch style without steps, when we moved she was 4 and this house has steps, all the bedrooms are upstairs and she will not walk up or down stairs. She spends a lot of time alone for this reason.

Ezra’s Current Family:

2 children, active in sports. My husband travels often so I am a single parent throughout the week very often.

Ezra’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

She loves all toys, balls. She loves raw meat as a treat, sweet potatoes, carrots, raw eggs and yogurt.

Cute Ezra Story:

We call her our ditsy blond because she identifies people with her smell not sight, when she is down wind of someone approaching she knows but can’t smell them she acts like they are a new person. As soon as she smells them she gets so excited that she knows them, she jumps and does her happy dance with her tail wagging.

Why is Ezra Being Rehomed?

As stated before, she will not climb stairs or go down stairs. this leaves her alone a lot. We moved from 50 acres to a neighborhood a year ago where there is a lot of activity she is not use to, she is not happy when people are walking on the sidewalks, she has on several occasions barked and scared a few kids entering our yard that she knows. We are home less now that our kids are in middle school and she gets anxious when we are away to long.

Ezra’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Ezra would best be suited to a family with older children or no children. She would be an excellent companion for a single older male. She loves to run, I would like to see her in a home with some land.

Additional Comments:

This has been a very hard decision but we feel it is the right thing to do for her happiness. We will not place her in a home similar to ours as it would not be a good fit.
