Meet Scarlet, German Shepherd Mix Dog For Adoption in Panama City Beach FL

Hi Potential New Owner,

Scarlet german shepherd mix dog adoption panama city florida 4My name is Scarlet, and I am a 4 year old female German Shepherd mix for adoption in Panama City Florida. I am healthy and have been spayed, fully vaccinated, crate trained, house broken and leash trained.

My owners rescued me from a kill shelter. They saved my life and have given me the very best home they could have over the past year. I had a very rough start in life before I ended up at the shelter. As a result, I am very anxious and fearful. Everything terrifies me, and I do not like to be alone. Sometimes I lash out in fear. I am afraid of men and children.

I love my owners and I am sweet and affectionate with them, but I have a skin condition that drives me crazy and makes me chew on myself. It’s hard to be a contented and happy dog when I am always itchy, and this makes my anxiety a lot worse.

I really need and deserve someone to love my unconditionally. I would be happy out in the country where there are not so many other dogs and people. Children frighten me, and I am aggressive towards other dogs. I would love to live with adults in a house that has a securely fenced back yard. I would love to find some relief from my allergies, too.

I am not a hopeless case, I am a sweet dog that deserves a chance at a happy life in my forever home. Will you offer me a home today?

Scarlet’s Personality

She can be very sweet, but she is so anxious it often gets in the way of any enjoyment she’s having. Odd is the best word to describe her. She has a lot of triggers which will make her sad, anxious, angry, or scared in turn. She spends most of her time pacing around the apartment, but when she goes on walks or to the dog park she won’t run and play. She’s not a fetch dog. It’s like she has all of this pent up stuff she can’t get rid of and that very much translates to her behavior.

We do love her. We just aren’t equipped to train her. She needs someone with patience and time and experience.

Why is Scarlet Being Rehomed?

Her aggressiveness and anxiousness have gotten worse in the year we have had her. We have tried everything we know to help her, but nothing has worked. She honestly seems really depressed and has taken to chewing herself until hair falls out and she bleeds. She does this at night while we are sleeping, and she will cry the whole night. We have a baby due in 2 weeks, and we know she can’t be anywhere near the baby because of her unpredictable aggression. We also know her anxiety will worsen when we have even less time to spend with her. She already struggles when we sleep and when we work full days.
