Meet Zelda – Golden Retriever Great Pyrenees Bernese Mountain Dog Mix For Adoption in Calgary AB

Looking for a Golden Retriever, a Great Pyrenees or Bernese Mountain dog for adoption in Calgary and area? With Zelda, you get the best qualities of all three breeds mixed into one amazing female 1 year old, 50 pound bundle of love. Zelda has been spayed, fully vaccinated and house broken. She is in excellent health and is good with older children and other dogs.

Zelda is still very much a puppy at 1 year old. She is still growing into her body, and is a bit on the clumsy side. (This is why she is best suited for older kids – she would knock toddlers down like pins in a bowling alley!). She has lots of energy and needs plenty of recreation and exercise to be healthy and happy.

Zelda is really funny. She will keep your family laughing from morning till night with her silliness. She is anxious about new people and new things, and has been known to bark warily at Amazon boxes. New people get the same treatment. She loves to play with her toys, “gallomph” around the back yard (no, this is not a typo! – it’s “big dog zoomies”) and follow her favorite person around the house. She is inquisitive and sweet, kooky and adorable. She is in no way aggressive, but her bark is more than enough to deter potential robberies.

Zelda does not like to be left home alone. Her ideal home will be with a family who have a very large, securely fenced yard, kids older than 8, and who are home most of the time (even after Covid 19 restrictions, please).  Living on an acreage would be heaven for Zelda, but as long as she is in a home with a good yard, she will be happy.

If you have room in your heart and home for this big ole cutie pie, please offer Zelda her forever home today. She can’t wait to meet you and your family.

Great pyrenees bernese mountain dog mix for adoption in calgary 2All About Zelda

Zelda’s Personality

Zelda is an energetic 1-year old female Great Pyrenees/Bernese Mountain Dog cross. She has all of her shots, has been dewormed, and been spayed. Due to changes in the composition of the household I’m looking for a new forever home. Preferably, I’d like a household with a big yard, lots of interaction with my family, and to not live with cats. She would also prefer not to have young children in the house. She is not aggressive with kids, she is just energetic, klutzy, and she doesn’t know her own size (she also sometimes think she’s a lap dog). Zelda is crate trained and house trained if let out a few times a day. She can also, sit, lay down, come and (sometimes) stay when asked to. She will also lay down and wait to eat my food until I’m told it’s ok to eat.
One thing you should also know about Zelda is that she’s quite anxious. It takes her a while to warm up to strangers and she tends to bark at people she doesn’t know or new objects (such as Amazon boxes) in the house. Zelda is a little bit peculiar in what scares her.
With that being said, she has got lots of love to give. She will follow you around and be interested in everything you do and take every chance she can get to be right by your side. Nothing makes her happier than the moment she first get to see you or when you get back from work. She’s a big fan of toys and it’s always a good idea to keep them stocked in the house as it will keep her busy.

Zelda is loving, kind, loyal, silly, and loves to get a good bath.

Zelda’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Zelda really enjoys chew toys, especially one’s that are good for her teeth. She will do anything for a treat and isn’t used to eating human food. She loves to follow you around the yard, go for walks (though she is sometimes nervous of new places), and chase balls.

Cute Zelda Story:

When she got spayed she needed to be right next to someone, touching them, for the next 24 hours. After that she was your usual ball of energy like nothing had ever happened.

Why is Zelda Being Rehomed?

Changes in the composition of the household and changes in work schedule has made it so Zelda hasn’t been able to get the time and attention she needs and deserves.

Zelda’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Ideally, Zelda would like to be in a household where she can get lots of attention, has a fairly big back yard, and be the only pet. She would do best in a household without young children as she is kind of klutzy and doesn’t know her own size.
