Looking for a bonded pair of small dogs for adoption in Philadelphia? ( a Chihuahua mix and a German Spitz mix (very similar to a Pomeranian – only bigger). Butters and George are amazing 20 pound bonded buddies looking for a loving new home where they will be spoiled rotten and dearly loved for the remaining years of their lives. Both dogs are healthy, fixed, fully vaccinated, house-trained and well-behaved. They are good with teens and adults, but are very fearful of small children.

Butters and George lived the life of Riley until about 2 years ago when – horrors! – tiny humans began invading their home. As these small children have grown bigger and more mobile, the dogs’ anxiety levels have risen. The situation is no longer livable – the dogs are miserable and have had to be put on Prozac to help them manage, and the children are at risk of being nipped.

The dogs’ owners are dearly hoping to find a new home for Butters and George where they can live happily without being terrorized by small children, and receive the attention, walks, cuddles and playtime they love so much. These little dogs are such amazing companions. They would be perfect for seniors looking for a bonded pair of small dogs as companions.

Butters and George will be rehomed with all supplies and vet records. All you need to add is lots of love and a safe, happy and healthy home where the dogs will thrive for the rest of their lives.

Butters and George – Chihuahua mix and German Spitz mix Dogs for Adoption in Philadelphia PA

Butters and George’s Personality

George looks like a forever puppy and people LOVE her. She’s relatively independent, not whiny, but usually down to cuddle. She’s not high maintenance. She is the German Spitz mix, and looks a lot like a Pomeranian, only bigger.

Butters is high maintenance. He’s got a lot of nervous energy, he can go on walks forever, he’s a Chihuahua mix and has such a big personality. He LOVES cuddles and he is a pretty goofy dog. He’ll definitely be your alarm dog, but he’s all bark and no bite. He plays with his toys and prances like a prize pony.

Why are Butters and George Being Rehomed?

We have two kids, 27 months and 7 months. George snapped at our daughter when she was about 1. We saw a behaviorist and got her on Prozac, but our anxiety about how George interacts with our kids has remained. George has never otherwise been aggressive; she just shouldn’t be around tiny children. We don’t have the time or energy to give these two somewhat needy dogs the attention they need, which is exacerbating their anxiety issues. We’ve had them since they were both one, and we love these dogs dearly, but they deserve better dog parents than we can be while our kids are this young and so close in age, and I’m worried we’re damaging our own kids’ ability to have relationships with animals.
