Hi, My name is Rose!

Large mixed breed dog for adoption 2

Are you looking for the perfect hiking buddy? I’m long and lean and very athletic. I am a mixed breed – probably Hound and Labrador Retriever. I am only 2 years old, very well behaved, spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped and house broken.

I love to cuddle and am incredibly sweet and playful. I have been through obedience training and am also crate and leash trained.

My owners love me so much. They adopted me from a shelter when I was a pup, and I have been lovingly cared for ever since.

Unfortunately, me and another dog in our home are not getting along. We have had more than a couple of arguments, and my owners realize that we cannot live together safely. Because he is 6 years old and has been with them the longest, they have made the very difficult decision to try and find me the perfect home. I am such a loving dog and so pretty – they are hopeful that the right home can be found for me.

I would do best in a home where there are no other cats or dogs. I am really good with children, but would be best for older kids that know how to treat dogs. I would love a securely fenced back yard, and people who have lots of time to spend with me. I love going places, am good in the car, and am an all-round fantastic companion.

My owners will include all of my veterinary records and supplies with me to my new home. All you need to add is a safe, happy home, and lots of love, attention and exercise for me.

Let’s hit the trails together! I can’t wait to meet you and wag and wiggle my way into your heart.

Love, Rose

Personality

As already mentioned, Rose is very sweet and playful. She enjoys to be outside in the backyard and she loves to go on hikes. She is very good in the car and walkes nice on the leash. She knows her basic commands and loves her kennel. Rose loves belly rubs and she can play with you forever, she can become a little mouthy during playtime but you just need to tell her and remind her to stop. She loves all kinds of toys and she always has a collection in her kennel. We kennel her when we leave the house and she loves it because she gets the awesome treats. She will run in her kennel and gets very excited. She will chase cats so there should be no cats in her new house and she would do best as single dog. She will be the perfect dog if you’re looking for a kuddle bug and a hiking buddy. She is very shy when you take her to new places with a lot of noise or a lot of people. When her new owner keeps exposing her to new situations I’m sure she will get better. She will also need some time to adjust in her new home, but once she warmed up to her new people she is attached and extremely affectionate! It is very hard for us to let her go because she is such a sweet girl and we love her a lot. The new owner has to be patient with her and give her time to come out of her shell.

Reason For Rehoming

We adopted Rose from a shelter about a year and a half ago. We tested her with our other dogs and they got along fine. We have 3 other dogs. All very strong characters, only one is extremely submissive. They are all bigger dogs and all did great together. After a while we noticed that Rose and my senior, 6 year old hound, are ok together but you could tell that there is tension and they just tolerate each other. Rose and my 5 year old pit mix are extremely great together, the pit mix is extremely submissive and playfull. As time went on Rose and my hound needed some more attention, there were small incidents were they got into little arguments but nothing serious. After a good year they started to get into serious fights were they needed to be physically seperated from us. This happens 2x within one week and that’s when I pulled the break and seperate them. I’m a vet tech and see dog fights that happen between housemates all the time and I know how bad and dangerous it can be. So there was no question for me than keeping them seperated. I also started to become very nervous in my own house with them. They now live on seperate levels in our house. You can tell that Rose doesn’t mind to be alone and she never complaints about it. When we go to her she gets 100% attention that she doesn’t need to share with the other dogs and you can tell that’s what she needs, 100% attention from her people. We sadly made the decision that it is the best for Rose and the only correct decision to find a home for her where her new people can give her the love and attention she needs. She is a very sweet, and playfull dog and we just want the best for her.
