Boxer mix for adoption atlanta 2

Hi, My name is Rufus!

Are you looking for a great big bundle of love in the form of a 9 month old Boxer mix puppy? I’d love to apply for the position of your first-hand family member! I was adopted by my owner from a shelter when I was younger, and have since blossomed into the majestic creature you see before you! I have been neutered, vet checked, vaccinated and even crate and obedience trained!

I am very playful and still have some of my puppy tendencies (like chewing on stuff I am not supposed to and jumping up on people), but those little things will get better as I mature and you teach me they are not acceptable.

My owner thinks I am a Boxer/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. I love playing with other dogs, and I am really smart. I learn things very easily and love to do things that stimulate me mentally. I tend to get a little bored, to be honest.

I love children and I am great with them. The only issue is that I am a bit like a “Bull in a China Shop”, so I might not be the best choice for tiny children at this stage in my life.  I would LOVE some great kids to play with me in a nice, securely fenced back yard.

My owner loves me so much. She is very sad to have to find me a good home. but her work schedule has increased, and she is having to leave me home in my crate far too often and for too long. She realizes that it would be much better for me to be with a family who have lots of time to spend with me. It would be so great to have some dog siblings to play with and people around me to keep me company and help me learn and grow into the best family dog ever.

She would love to keep in touch with me, so hopefully that will be OK with you.

Please offer me a loving, forever home today. I can’t wait to wag and wiggle my way into your heart and home.

Personality

He is super sweet and loves to be pet. Full of energy and loves playing with other dogs. If I take him on a doggy playdate, have the neighbors dog over, or take him to a dog park, he plays nonstop for hours. He’s timid at first with other dogs, but will warm up after getting settled for a few minutes. He loves people, but will get excited and sometimes jump on them in his excitement. He’s super smart which sometimes causes him to be mischievous – for example, he figured out how to squeeze his way out of our fence so he could go over to the neighbors fence.

I took him to an obedience class when I first got him at 6 months and he excelled at all the tricks, but got bored easily in the hour long class and would resort to trying to play or sleeping. If I had more time to spend on him with training, I know he would be an extremely compliant dog.

Reason For Rehoming

When I got him, I was working from home 4 days out of the week and had a ton of time to care for him. But recently, my job situation has become more involved, requiring me to spend more time in Woodstock while he stays at home in a crate. I’ve had long days and no way to get back to Decatur to let him out.

Furthermore, once my lease is up at this house (in October), I might have to move into an apartment without a yard for him to play in. I’ve just gotten to a point that I feel like I’m not able to give him the time and attention that he needs.]
