Looking for a sweet and cuddly senior Calico cat for adoption in Edmonton, AB? Lyla would love to be considered for the position of your cherished family companion.

Meet Lyla — A Cuddle-Loving Senior Calico Cat Looking for Her Soulmate in Edmonton, AB

If you’ve been dreaming of a purring, biscuit-making couch buddy who will wrap herself around your heart and never let go — your moment has arrived. Meet Lyla, a calico sweetheart with an old soul, a kitten’s heart, and an unconditional love that could melt even the iciest Alberta winters.

Lyla has lived a life full of love and snuggles, and while it breaks her person’s heart to let her go, it’s time for this gentle senior girl to find a new forever home — one that’s calm, cozy, and filled with affection.

Why Lyla Will Break (and Heal) Your Heart:

  • She tilts her head up for kisses — yes, actual kisses.

  • She’ll fall asleep wrapped in your arms like a child, purring softly with her little face on your pillow.

  • She’s obsessed with crackers (especially Ritz), and her eyes go wide like it’s Christmas morning every time you sneak her a bite.

  • She’ll climb onto your shoulders like a parrot if you let her — just to be close.

  • And when she finds a sunbeam or a patch of grass to lie in, the joy on her face will remind you to slow down and breathe.

Lyla is the kind of cat you don’t just adopt — you fall in love with her, fully and irreversibly. Despite her age, she still moves with a playful energy and youthful spirit. She’s quirky in all the best ways — she prefers to drink from mugs, will quietly nibble your hair if you let her, and isn’t shy about demanding cuddles or wet food with her signature meow.

Her ideal match? Someone who’s home often and loves nothing more than a cozy afternoon shared with a loving, purring companion. A quiet home, a soft lap, and maybe a sunny yard to explore now and then — that’s the dream.

Lyla’s current owner has loved her fiercely for 13 wonderful years, and this decision comes from a place of deep love and heartbreak. It’s time for Lyla to find a new heart to call home — someone who will cherish her, spoil her, and bask in the pure magic of her presence.

If you’re the kind of person who whispers sweet things to your pets, makes room in your bed for a furry friend, and believes that love only gets better with age — Lyla is waiting for you. Let’s make her golden years truly golden.

5 Amazing Things About Lyla:

– How cuddly she is.
– The way she tilts her head for kisses.
– Being able to fall asleep cuddling her.
– Her love of chewing on the grass; she has never been outside until last year when I
had a yard, and she absolutely loved it out there. I loved watching her roam around
and lie in the sun.
– How much she loves.

Lyla’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished cat, but circumstances beyond their control have made rehoming a must-do.

They are hoping to find the right home where this deserving cat will be loved unconditionally and kept safe, happy, healthy and well-cared-for.

Lyla’s Personality

Lyla is one of the cuddliest cats you’ll ever meet! She lives for attention in the form of warm, cozy snuggles, kisses, and words of affirmation.

Lyla loves to be carried around and will affectionately chew on longer hair and offer up her little head for some kisses. You can pick her up and plop her in your lap, and she’ll generally be content for quite some time. She also loves to be cuddled to sleep and will curl up under the covers with her head on your pillow and your arm around her, purring away.

Lyla is very vocal and insistent with her wants and needs, which mostly include pets and wet food. Ideally, Lyla is best suited for someone who is home often, who can provide affection all throughout the day.

She is a generally well-behaved cat but will jump up in places she knows you don’t want her to or chomp on your plants to express her upset with not being given attention when she wants it! Also, do not leave your bread or crackers out, or she will chomp those too.

She has always had an obsession with crackers – her eyes go so wide, and she even tries to paw them out of my hand. I’ve always loved seeing her crunching her rare treat of Ritz.

Although Lyla will be 15 this summer, she has an incredibly youthful and silly energy and is still very agile. She has had almost all of her teeth removed due to dental disease and only has her bottom fangs and incisors left. Despite this, Lyla is still able to eat dry food but has been leaning toward a mostly wet food preference these days, other than Temptations treats, of course! (And crackers, if given the opportunity.)

Lyla has had recent blood, urine, and fecal tests that show she is in good health, other than signs of early kidney disease, which can be managed with a change in diet, according to the vet. She also has a little cyst on her skin, which two vets have assured me is benign.

Lyla is an incredibly special soul who has an abundance of love and affection to give. She has showered me with so much unconditional love throughout our 13 years together, and I am truly so grateful for the time we’ve had.

Due to allergies and wanting Lyla to be cared for in the fullest ways she deserves, I am making the choice to rehome her. I believe the right person will be absolutely enamored with her, as she will be with them.

Lyla’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Wet food – Performatrin Ultra gravy packets with tuna/beef and tuna
She loves wheatgrass plants; she has always liked catnip or honeysuckle pouches or kickers; she likes the wands with the feathers. Pieces of tinfoil. She has never been consistent with her play or been incredibly interested in many toys I’ve tried.
She loves being cuddled and roaming outside to chew the grass if there is a yard

Cute Lyla Story:

When I first met Lyla at the Humane Society, she was Jupiter. She was lying on a cat hammock stuck to the window, and I went up to pet her. She climbed right into my shoulders, and I knew immediately she was the cat I was looking for. She still will climb up onto my shoulders if I put here there or sometimes just while holding her if she feels like it.

Why is Lyla Being Rehomed?

Allergies, finances, lifestyle. I am not home enough or able to give Lyla the attention she craves and deserves. She genuinely would be so content to be cuddled and sit with someone all or most of the day, and I am not able to be there for her in that way.

Lyla’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Likely a senior/retiree/someone who works from home and can dote on Lyla throughout the day. Lyla as the only cat in the household. It would be so lovely for her to have a yard to roam in with grass to chew as she loved that so much last year when I lived in a house.
