Thor’s Current Home Environment

Our home environment is in the country/rural suburbs. It’s a 1300 sq foot house with a back yard, but our fence is only chest high and is easy for Thor to jump over). Overall, our home is quiet with no children and another dog (small) living with us.

Thor’s Current Family:

We are a small family. Currently 2 adults live in our house with myself as an active duty military member and move every 3-4 years. My mother is moving in soon as she is going through a divorce.

Thor’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

He loves playing “Keep Away” and tug-of-war. His favorite toy is a giant rubber ball that has a small tennis ball in size. It resembles a rubber kettlebell.

Cute Thor Story:

He sometimes thinks he is a lap dog. When I was watching TV on the couch, he decided to lay over my lap and demand some loving attention. He also loves to steal any socks that are laying on the floor and keeps them away from you.

Why is Thor Being Rehomed?

My mother is moving in with us (and this is actually her dog). As a military member, we move around too much and our lifestyle cannot accommodate his needs. We are not used to having a large breed of dog and do not have an enclosed yard with a fence high enough to stop him escaping. Finding a home to rent with each military move is going to be an extremely challenging task. It’s already difficult to find a place with a yard and will accept one small dog. Now I have to find one that will accommodate 2 dogs with one a very large breed. We believe he will be better suited for a family is able to provide him the stability he needs.

Thor’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

The adoptive family Thor needs should definitely have a large (high fenced) yard; ideally at least 1/3 acre. He needs to be able to run and people that can keep up with his energy. Perhaps children but none who are too young as he is so huge and a puppy that he may knock them over; young teenagers would be best. They also need to own a house since he is an indoor dog. An apartment, condo, and duplex will not suffice. They also need to be financially stable to accommodate his grooming needs, dog food, and any medical expenses he may have during the course of his life.

Additional Comments:

I’d like to find him a home within a reasonable driving distance so I may be able the location of where his new home may be.
