All About Pipa – Tortoiseshell Tortie Cat For Adoption in Edmonton Alberta
♥ Name of Pet: Pipa
♥ Location: Edmonton, Alberta, T6R2M9

♥ Breed of Pet: Tortoiseshell Tortie
♥ Color / Coat Type: Tortoiseshell Tortie, long haired
♥ Age of Pet: 6 years
♥ Size of Pet: not sure – medium
♥ Health Problems: no
♥ Behavior Issues: yes
Pipa is an anxious cat and her anxiety comes out as aggression. She is most commonly set off by other animals, new people, objects that move or make noise, or that she’s just not sure about for whatever reason. She will hiss, scratch, and occasionally bite when something sets her off. Otherwise though, she is sweet and cuddly with people she knows and is comfortable with.
♥ Gets along with: Adults Only
♥ Pet is: Spayed
♥ Food: Other
Whiskas and Fancy Feast. She has dry food out all day and gets 1 can of wet food per day in the evening. She does NOT like ANY store bought cat treats (we have tried them all). Her favorite ‘treat’ is shrimp. She will also eat some other fish, and some dairy products, but will not eat most human food and we never have to worry about her getting into food we leave on the counter or table (unless it’s the above listed ones).
Pipa’s Personality
Pipa is a typical cat for the most part. She likes to sleep on the couch most of the day. Likes her dinner at precisely 5:00 and will persistently remind you if you forget. She goes outdoors on a leash for a couple hours per day (dusk is her favorite time). She’s a great mouser, even on a leash! She has decent energy for a 6 year old and likes to play with toys and boxes, but is also just fine being lazy a lot 🙂
She is very affectionate and cuddly with people she knows and likes, on her own time.
Pipa is long haired and currently gets a lion shave twice per year to avoid matting. It is strongly encouraged to continue this as she not only sheds a lot, but also vomits due to hair in the digestive tract (only when shave is due, not always). She needs to be sedated for lion shave and any other vet procedure due to her anxiety/aggression.
Why is Pipa Being Rehomed?
See above. We have a 16 month old daughter, another baby on the way, and a small home. While Pipa’s ‘episodes’ don’t occur very often, we are no longer able to control the environment to the extent she needs (calm, quiet) to avoid them, and we fear for our daughter’s safety if and when an episode occurs. Pipa really needs to be in a home without children and where she is the only pet.
