Lily’s Personality
Lily is a very sweet, cuddly, and loving dog. She adores attention and affection from people. Lily is playful and loves to be active, but now that she’s is older, she does tire easily. When she is at the boarders, she is loved by every staff member and we are often told she is a favorite by people outside of our home.
Lily is very eager to please and is generally very obedient, but in the past it has been difficult for her to redirect and obey when she is triggered by something. After intense behavioral training, she has gotten a lot better. Overall Lily is a great dog, but is not a good fit for our home. Lily needs an experienced owner who is willing to work with her behaviors.
Why is Lily Being Rehomed?
Our family is seeking an experienced, caring, and trustworthy dog owner to adopt our sweet lab-mix, Lily. We are re-homing Lily due to behavioral issues that she has had for quite some time, which now pose a greater risk to our family since welcoming a new baby in August. Lily is a sweet dog, but Lily is also a territorial dog;
Lily often barks and growls when people come to the house. Lily is wary of strangers and of children. Lily will bark and growl at young children. Lily will bark when friends and family come over and will get aggressive, but It is important to note that Lily has never bitten anyone. We believe her issues are due to fear and anxiety.
We have recently have tried to address this issue with training, but have had only minimal success, particularly when it comes to having visitors in our home. We have been managing this situation by boarding Lily every time we expect company, but this is not sustainable.
Lily has received behavioral training, and she has gotten a lot better with barking at the door and has generally become a lot calmer, but we still do not feel that it is safe having her in the home with our child due to her aggression and fearful nature. This is simply not a good environment for Lily. This is extremely unfortunate, as Lily is a very sweet dog.
We do feel that Lily would make an excellent companion in the right environment, with the right owners.
