Dyson’s Personality

Dyson is a playful, smart, energetic, and affectionate puppy. He is only a year and is still very much a young dog. Dyson is an active dog that requires exercise, stimulation, and some training.

Although playful, smart, and affectionate, Dyson needs to be the only dog in the family. He problems sharing with other dogs. He doesn’t get aggressive. Dyson is just possessive.

Dyson is jealous of Pepper, our dog of 6 years. He wants all the toys, and all the attention, all the time. He always has to have Pepper’s item….whatever it is that she has at the time.

The Blue Heeler in him tries to herd her. Nipping at her heels and neck. She is hiding less and less and standing up for herself more and more now. They don’t fight but can get “chippy” over a toy or treat or over his nipping and herding.

Dyson’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Dyson loves all toys. He likes to chew, but not he is not destructive. If he has a squeaky toy, the squeaker must be found and removed.

He loves his Kong filled with peanut butter. He likes his Chuckit Ultra ball. He loves to chase the ball, and when he is done running, he can just lay and chew and chew. He gets quite excited over beef neck bones, or any kind of bone.

He likes his food! His name is his approach to food. He loves his daily morning walk in “the valley”. Out of town and off leash where he can chase, dig, sniff, run, and play.

Cute Dyson Story:

Dyson loves to snuggle. He tries to be a lap dog. He will lay on me or my husband. He loves to go to bed with us and snuggle. He loves his tummy rubbed, back petted and gives full body hugs in bed. If you let him, he will lay beside you in bed ith his head on your pillow.

Why is Dyson Being Rehomed?

He is not a good fit in the family. We have had him for a few months, and it is just not working out. Mainly it is his jealousy of Pepper. She has been a part of our family for 6 years and she now hides in the back room, avoids the conflict over her toys, and is just not happy with Dyson’s exuberance and inability to share in her space.

We are seniors. My husband had a knee replacement in January and still has some mobility problems, such that he can’t handle Dyson on a leash. I have 2 part-time jobs and just don’t have time or energy that Dyson needs.

We don’t have the mobility, the time, or the knowledge on how to train him. He is good boy, but exuberant. There is a large part of us that hates to see him go. But as I have said before, he just is not the right dog for us or Pepper. We just can’t give him what he needs and deserves.

The dogs get 2 walks a day. One early the morning off leash in an open valley where they can run, chase, dig, etc. We go for about an hour. Then they get an on leash walk around town in the late afternoon. But Dyson needs training as well.

Jim doesn’t have the mobility and I don’t have the time or the knowledge on how to train him. He is good boy, but exuberant. There is a large part of us that hates to see him go. But as I have said before, he just is not the right dog for us or Pepper. We just can’t give him what he needs.

Dyson’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

We are looking for someone, or a couple that has no other dog or small children. Someone that has time, patience of his exuberance, that will take Dyson into their life and their home.

He needs to be the only dog. He needs to be in the house, on the couch, in the bed and a big part of the family. He needs someone who understands the energy of a Blue Heeler and can  give him the training, direction, and all the love he needs.

We got Dyson from the pound in Medicine Hat. We had to have our old dog put down in April. Pepper was out of sorts. We thought a friend would be good for her and help us get over losing our old dog.

We also liked the idea of saving a “Pound Puppy”. It didn’t work out. He is just not a good fit. However, for the right person or family, Dyson would be wonderful addition to their life.
