Looking for an absolutely amazing Labrador Retriever mix dog to adopt in Bentonville, AR? Just 6 years old and weighing 86 pounds, Shadow is a very deserving dog looking for his forever home. Despite his size, Shadow considers himself to be a lap dog. He’s such a sweet boy that loves to be cuddled by his favorite person. Shadow gives the best hugs. He’s part cheerleader and part snuggle muffin. Shadow is very devoted to his family. He’s happy and full of enthusiasm for life, and his constantly wagging tail is so funny and cute.
For the most part, Shadow is very healthy and happy. He is fixed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped house-broken, leash-trained and even obedience trained. He has been lovingly cared for his entire life, and it shows in his amazing personality and behavior. He loves absolutely everyone, and is a calm, gentle and happy presence in his home with his ever-wagging tail. Shadow is a first hand family member to his loving family.

Shadow does have a health problem: Idiopathic Epilepsy. This is a common condition that responds very well to treatment with a twice daily medication. He very infrequently has seizures (about 2 to 3 a year). He is monitored by his vet, and overall lives a very normal life. He is such a great companion that caring for this relatively minor issue is not a big deal.
Shadow’s owners are very sad to have to rehome their cherished dog. Life has hit them hard over the past year or so. In addition to the Covid epidemic that we all lived through, a family member is facing Stage IV Cancer, and another is having mobility issues. They are having to move to a much smaller home (without a yard), and the new home will not be ideal for a big dog that loves his yard and indoor space. Caring for Shadow has, unfortunately, had to take a back seat to caring for their desperately ill family member.
Shadow’s family love him to bits, and are hoping to find a new home for Shadow where he will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for the remaining years of his life. Because of his health issue, they are going to provide the vet of choice with a 500.00 fund to pay for Shadow’s treatment and care. This should cover his veterinary expenses for the next year or two. Shadow will be rehomed with all his supplies and accessories. He’s a “ready-to-love” dog with immeasurable unconditional love and plenty of cuddles and laughter to offer his new owners. He would make a fantastic emotional support dog, or a buddy for a child with Epilepsy that could really lend moral support!

Shadow is very friendly and calm. He wags his tail constantly, love treats and loves to play. He will not lick or kiss you, but he will sit in your lap and hug you!
Why is Shadow Being Rehomed?
My husband has had two knee surgeries and I am a caretaker for another family member healing from stage 4 cancer. We are moving to a much smaller home soon and I will no longer have a fenced yard or nice space for him to play and roam. All these lifestyle changes have made it very difficult and I can no longer provide the care he needs. I am willing to pay a re homing fee and also provide several months pre paid to the vet for his continued medication because I do want him to be well cared for by a good loving family.
I am happy to arrange to have a credit up to $500 towards his medication at a Vet of your choosing to ensure that Shadow’s medication is continued.
