She primary just wants to be around her people. She can be very playful and enjoys playing fetch, and with tug toys. She will ALWAYS remind you if you are late with a meal. She is eager to please and enjoys learning new tricks, and showing off her tricks for treats.

Cora’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Coras favourite toys are balls, tug toys (ropes), and stuffies (she enjoys unstuffing them). Cora eats Acana kibble, but her favourite treats are bully sticks and she loves yogurt, peanut butter and chicken. Cora enjoys walks, hikes, swimming, playing chase and playing tug.

Cute Cora Story:

We adopted Cora when she was 1.5 years old. The very first day we brought her home was in mid-January. We let her outside into the backyard to give her some time to explore her new space, checking in on her regularly. After a while, during one check in I peeked outside and couldnt see her anywhere, I called her name and got no response. I immediately panicked, thinking we had lost our dog the first day home. I stepped outside and called her name louder. In response I heard a quiet “thump, thump, thump”. I called her again, and again “thump, thump, thump”. I realized the thumping was coming from underneath me, and I ran around to get down on the ground and look under our ground level deck. There she was, stuck a good 10-12 ft in underneath the deck with a huge goofy grin on her face and her wagging tail making the “thump” noise against the bottom side of our deck. She had smelled something and decided she simply MUST investigate. It took my husband and I quite a while and some digging out of snow to clear a big enough hole, and then help drag her out. As soon as she was free she had some zoomies around the back yard and shook it off like nothing happened, and was ready to go explore inside.

Why is Cora Being Rehomed?

We recently welcomed our first child, and as he is growing to become more mobile she is reactive toward him and his presence causes her to become very stressed. In order to keep them both safe, they need to be fully separated at all times. This typically means Cora spends a lot of time on her own separated from the family. We do not feel this is a fair situation for a dog who is very strongly attached to her people, and prefers to spend her time in their company.

Cora’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Cora would be best in a home without small children, and without other dogs unless they have had a couple meet and greets first. I would love to see her somewhere with plenty of outdoor space to run and lounge in the sun, and people who are happy to simply enjoy her company. Ideally, I would love to see her with someone who believes in positive reinforcement training and would like to continue her reactivity and resource guarding training.

We first adopted Cora when she was a 1.5 years old. Initially after bringing her home, it was a tough transition period. It was obvious she was nervous and unsure of her new space and new people. We remember how shocked and overjoyed we were when we realized a couple weeks in for the very first time she stopped pacing, and laid down to relax. We don’t know much about her puppy years, but we know that we were the fourth family to adopt her, and frankly I was adamant we would be her last home. I was dedicated and determined to work through her reactivity. We took scent detection courses, a round of obedience, and worked with an incredible positive reinforcement based trainer to help her become more comfortable and confident. I believe she will always have some challenges when it comes to reactivity, but once you get to know her she is an incredibly kind, sweet and silly girl, and a wonderful companion. She is going to be deeply missed.
