3.) She is very sensitive to human emotion and just has a 6th sense when something isn’t right
4.) She is highly expressive and wears her mood on her sleeve, if you will
5.) She is super human submissive and listens without question to human commands
Zoey’s Current Home Environment
The home environment is generally calm, lots of open spaces around the house. It is just my girlfriend and I, as well as the other three dogs. There is good consistency in our schedules and usually low stress.
There isn’t much to say about the environment to be honest, we have a larger home, a fenced in yard, the dogs eat at the same time every day, there are lots of places for them to lounge around, lots of walks, but lots of consistency and low stress.
Zoey’s Current Family:
It is just my Girlfriend and I, my yellow lab who has cancer and is 11 years old. We also have two smaller dogs who have joined the household and all the dogs seemed to at least live together until we found out about the labs cancer.
Since then the stress has begun to get to Zoey and we are concerned for the well being of the other three dogs now. She is a Nurse, I work as an operations director for my families manufacturing business and I coach hockey on the side.
Zoey’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Zoey loves to chew on soft toys to get squeakers out, she likes to play tug-of-war but I would only play where her one-on-one to ensure she doesn’t have any possession issues.
She loves walks more than anything and loves to cuddle up by the fireplace, she just can’t get enough of laying in her bend by the fire. She does love her share of cuddle time with her humans but really can keep to herself some times.
Cute Zoey Story:
With Zoey there are so many heartwarming stories to tell, but it really is just her personality and relationship with humans being stronger than that with dogs.
I will say a funny story is that she is such a submissive dog, she doesn’t realize her size sometimes and there was one time in particular at my parents house a 17 acre pet heaven where she was introduced to their three small dogs.
She was so scared of the three little dogs she ran and hid underneath my parents SUV not realizing that she barely fit and that the little ones could run right underneath, they chased her around for a couple hot laps until they ran out of energy.
It was so funny watching this daisy chain of one big dog being chased by 3 small dogs around the property.
Why is Zoey Being Rehomed?
It is heartbreaking on a couple fronts, but since my lab has been diagnosed with Cancer, the stress on her has caused her to become very distant, depressed, and more defensive than normal when it comes to things like food.
I am concerned that her defensiveness could turn into an aggressive situation and the risk of that with the other three dogs isn’t worth it. I have been able to manager her well for years with the large yellow lab but with him in decline and the two little ones unable to defend themselves, I just can’t take that chance.
I would love nothing more than for her to be with a forever family where she is the only pet, she will be the most amazing dog you could imagine.
Zoey’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We are looking for a couple, or a family with older kids, where she would be the only pet in the house hold.
She has so much love to give and we would love to have a family looking for a rescue ( I got her from the Michigan Humane Society as a puppy) who have a huge heart to receive all she has to offer.
She is so easy to manage in the event the family gets busy and really is more like a cat than a dog. We would love nothing more than for her to be in a family where she can be the center of attention.
