Extremely friendly and playful, but loves to nap. Will play for hours with kids and other dogs, but is just as happy (if not more) being alone with his dog bed. Eats his food promptly at 8 o’clock each night after our kids go to bed.
He’s well trained. Doesn’t get on furniture unless otherwise encouraged, answers to his name and knows several commands. Enjoys shaking especially. He will look to shake if he doesn’t know you.
He will not bark much in the house. He never does it at our home but has at other houses.
Why is Abe Being Rehomed?
I received orders to Okinawa for 3 years. Abe will not do well in the cargo area of a plan or in quarantine based on his personality. He’s not necessarily an anxious dog, but he does get nervous in situations that could be stressful or without my wife (she adopted him from a shelter when he was a puppy) unless he has regular contact with another person. He’s an extremely friendly dog and when he has to be watched by friends he does extremely well.
His thick coat and apparent dislike for heat would also make his living in Okinawa extremely unpleasant. My wife and I think it would be in his best interests to re home him to a family staying in a less tropic environment than the pacific island.
