Nyx’s Personality

Nyx has a very sweet temperament and is eager to please. She loves being around her family and is always ready to sit on you and give you kisses, or cuddle under a blanket with you. She also has a slightly goofy side to her and loves to make you laugh and will give you lots of kisses when you do. She is a fun-loving puppy and a quick learner. Her favorite trick is shake! Like all GSDs, she is a high energy dog and she loves to play and take long walks.

Nyx’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Nyx loves chasing balls, cuddling on blankets, and swimming. She loves her dentals bones, balls, rope toys, and anything she can really sink her teeth into or chase around the room. We avoid puppy food with grain in it as it can sometimes upset her stomach, but she will usually eat anything you give her. Her regular food is Puppy Food Health Extension with a bit of pumpkin or yogurt added in. We also add wet food to the mix a few times a week. Her favorite food is chicken and her favorite treats are dog jerky.

Cute Nyx Story:

Nyx can be a goof ball at times and doesn’t always remember to use her brain when playing which is very funny to watch. Her ears haven’t fully stood up yet and we have noticed that when her ears are floppy, she is engaged and paying attention. However, whenever her ears do fully stand up, it’s as if her brain has switched off and she will start acting like a goof ball. She will suddenly remember her tail exists and start chasing it all around the room for ages. When she can’t grab it, she will glare at it and sometimes even talk or growl at it as if telling it off. Funnily enough, as soon as she reengages her brain, her ears go floppy again. This has happened so often that we now joke that you either get one or the other, either the brains or the ears. Of course, as Nyx continues to get older, her ears are standing up more and more. Nyx also doesn’t seem to realize her size at times and she still tries to sit between my legs when I’m sitting down like she did when she was 10 weeks old. Overall, she is a sweety who will add lots of laughter and fun to any home.

Why is Nyx Being Rehomed?

I am planning to relocate and start a new job, and will be far too busy to give Nyx the exercise, training, socialization and attention that a GSD requires. I didn’t want to have to leave her in a small apartment all day while I work long hours. In general, I feel that small apartment living in cities isn’t always best for GSDs who grew up in larger homes, especially if they aren’t getting the exercise and attention required. For these reasons, I decided it was best to try and find her a new home with a family who could give her the love and care she deserves.

Nyx’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

I’m looking for someone who can give Nyx the regular exercise, training, socialization and attention this breed requires. As with all GSDs, she requires both regular walks and off-leash play time to burn off all that energy. Nyx is currently living with a family of 3 with 2 birds, so I’m hoping to find her a new family to love. Although she has no experience with children, I’m confident that she will do well with children no younger than 8. Should her new home have young children, I’m sure that with plenty of training she can adapt very well. As mentioned, she has grown up with 2 parrots and completely ignores them, so as long as she is instructed what not to do, I am certain she will adapt well to a home with existing pets of any species. Ideally, I’d prefer experienced dog owners who are willing to put in the time and energy to make and have access to a space where she can run around.
