Meet Luke, New York City NY American Pit Bull Terrier Mix Dog For Private Adoption

Luke is quite the dog. This handsome red-nosed American Pit Bull Terrier dog is 6 years young and in vibrant good health. Weighing 60 pounds, he has been neutered, is up to date on shots, micro-chipped and apartment trained. He is sweet, well-behaved, intelligent and very lovable. He has all the best qualities one would want in a dog, and is used to living in the big city. Luke is very good with children and most other dogs. He is not a fan of Labrador Retrievers (particularly Black Labs) or other large dogs.

Luke’s owner has lovingly cared for him for the past three years after adopting him from a rescue in Upstate NY. She takes him for long walks in Central Park every morning, feeds him a high quality diet, and treats him as a first-hand family member.

Luke’s owner has had to make the heart-wrenching decision to find him a new home. She has become increasingly busy in her career, and is now having to travel constantly. This means that Luke is spending far too much time in the care of pet sitters. In addition to this being incredibly expensive, it is not a good situation for Luke. He needs the stability of a family who have lots of time for him. He would love to have a home with a large, securely fenced yard, and some great kids to follow around. He would also do very well in a home with active retired dog lovers.

Luke will be rehomed with all of his supplies and vet records, along with the sincere appreciation and friendship of his owner, who only wants what is best for this deserving dog. If you have room in your heart and home for delightful Luke, please complete our online meeting request today. Once received, we will ask Luke’s owner to reach out to you to answer any questions and arrange for you to meet him.

Adopt Luke in Manhattan today!

There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. Supplies and veterinary records will be included.

Luke’s Personality

Overly loving and friendly. Loves people. Loves to sleep but also is playful. Very smart. Very protective (ie. door bells and standing in front of me if weird noises happen in the apartment.) He’s a goofball as most pits are but also one of the most attractive dogs, Luke has a very pretty face.

Why is Luke Being Rehomed?

I have been heart broken and struggling with this decision for over a year now. My work has changed and I’ve been traveling half of every month (if not more) and being in NYC that means the dog has sitters… which I don’t think is fair to Luke, as well as the financial commitment it takes from me. I’ve also been trying to relocate and having a pit bull is proving to be a massive issue for renting as well as location. (My move options are overseas or south FL… where there is a ban on pits and I’m scared to death they take the dog to kill him.)
