Rupert, a moyen (medium) red poodle for adoption in london ontario

Moyen (Medium) Red Poodle Puppy for Adoption in London, Ontario

Looking for a stunning red Moyen (Medium) Poodle puppy to adopt in London, Ontario? Just 11 months old and weighing 45 pounds, Rupert has been fully vaccinated, housebroken, microchipped, leash trained, and even obedience trained.

This healthy puppy loves meeting new people and has a lot of joy for life. He’s incredibly smart and also very energetic. His owner is in her 70’s and has found that she is no match for Rupert’s need for activity. He gets the “zoomies” several times a day and clearly needs an active family to give him the exercise and playtime that he craves.

Rupert’s owner is very sad to have to rehome Rupert. She is hoping to find him a home with an active, home-school family or a retired couple who can meet his needs for companionship and activity. Rupert will need owners who are confident and able to work with him to overcome his anxiety.

Getting plenty of play and exercise will go a long way towards helping him to stay calm and focused. Above all, Rupert’s owner is looking for a home where Rupert will be cherished unconditionally and kept safe, happy, and healthy for life.

All About Rupert – Moyen (Medium) Red Poodle Dog For Adoption in London ON

Name of Pet: Rupert

Type of Pet: Dog
Breed of Pet: Moyen (Medium) Red Poodle
Color / Coat Type: RED, Curly
Age of Pet: 11 months
Size of Pet: 45 pounds
Health Problems: NO
Behavior Issues: Separation Anxiety and ZOOMIES ( Over Stimulated Behaviour)
Rupert has never been alone and has always had a pet sitter. I agreed to that when I rented the small bungalow the two of us rented on March 30th that if I were outside the home, Rupert would have a pet-sitter. I wanted to assure the Landlord there would be no pet damage.

Rupert is a high-energy, super-intelligent puppy. He becomes difficult for me to control when he goes into ZOOMIE mode with out-of-control behaviour.

Gets along with:  Older respectful children, adults, dogs
Pet is: Fully Vaccinated, Housebroken, Microchipped, Leash Trained, Obedience Trained
Food: Other
Rupert has been Raw Fed from Raw Pet Food Ontario on Chester Street with lots of supplements such as pro-biotics, goat milk, yogurt etc. and the only treats he gets for training are SMACK # 1 Five Star raw dehydrated food and Benny Bully dried liver. He has been “off” his raw food lately so when he doesn’t eat his raw food, I offer him SMACK and he always eats that.

It comes in several flavours and is considered the highest quallity. I tried KABO which is super expensive and Rupert lost interest quickly. No organ or crushed bone in it so it does lack nutrients. Rupert was to be my LAST dog as I started this new chapter in my life alone with him and I will never ever feed any dog kibble again! Period.

I have spent so much time over the past few years researching nutrition for dogs. I raised a Standard Poodle from 2001 to 2012 and fed him kibble and he got cancer. In 2014 I rescued an 85 pound white Doodle who was 11.5 and special needs. He had Cushings, went blind within 4 months and had lipomas all over his body and required $3000 worth of dental work and after I got him healthy he was the best dog ever.

I promised him a Happy Ending in honour of my Standard Poodle Teddy and we had 4 fabulous years together. I am familiar with the Poodle Breed. I also had a Schnauzer before my Standard and he was very difficult to manage. He lived 10 years.

Rupert’s Personality

Super intelligent, high energy. Anxiety and poor impulse control. Very intuitive and sensitive. Playful. Knows a lot of commands. If he were a child I
would say he has Dog ADHD

Why is Rupert Being Rehomed?

I am 71 years of age and in good health. I adopted Rupert believing he would be 16-18 pounds ( Mini Poodle) and I was deceived by the Breeder whom I now believe to be running a large puppy mill in Richmond Hill.

While I walk Rupert for an hour each morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon, the stress of such an active puppy is taking a serious toll on my mental health. I have invested THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS on him and have made the decision that IF I can find the perfect home for him then I will consider re-homing him.

I suffer from mild hearing loss and Rupert has sensed that and even saved a stand-up freezer full of food from being discarded when he led me downstairs to the freezer when I was unable to hear the beep beep that the door was ajar from upstairs. He barks all day at the front door thinking he is looking after ME. Rupert lost his confidence in me to be the Leader of our pack of 2 when I sent him to a highly rated place for 4 weeks of boarding and training earlier this summer.

I had NO idea it was e-collar (shock) collar training and he regressed badly!! He felt abandoned and our bond was broken. He lost confidence in me to be the Leader and has taken on the role and his suffers from anxiety as it is too much for a puppy to take on that role. I am still investing in training but I have been told it would take another year to POSSIBLY have him respect me as Leader.
