Lovable Beau is a year and a half old, 60 lbs and needs a new home in or near Powder Springs, Georgia, just west of Marietta and Atlanta . Poor Beau! He is victim of his own friendliness. His family have an older dog and a cat and Beau gets carried away when trying to play with them. Still getting past his “puppy years” and much larger than the other pets, he is trying so hard, but just can’t fit in like he could if he were an only pet. The family has decided that it would be best for all to give Beau a new home rather than rehoming the older pets. A new home would be much easier on the young dog.
Beau has a great personality and is loyal, smart, and highly energetic. He’s great on a leash. He’s potty trained. Never had any accidents in the house. He’s crate trained and sleeps in a crate at night. Beau is everything that you could want in a large young dog. He just needs the right situation.

He would be really great for owners with no small pets/cats/or children. He’s very loving and handsome. He loves the water. He stays close by his owner. So he really does need a home where he spends a lot of time with people. He’s OK in his crate to sleep, but he needs to be with people . If you love big dogs and have a fenced yard or time to give him lots of walks and play time, then you will love Beau!
The Ridgeback is an extremely intelligent dog and needs to be active. They bond very well with family and can be very protective – but that also means that they do not handle time alone very well. Like other intelligent breeds, they are highly trainable, but need an owner who gives them a routine and a firm hand when needed. From the dog’s point of view, he sees an owner as a “partner”, that means that not including him in your day is going to confuse him.

We got the dog from Duvall County animal shelter February 16th with the hopes he would be a good fit into our family. sadly he’s a wonderful dog for adults and possibly other large breed dogs. He’s just not working out with littles.
