Grizabella’s Personality

She is a confident cat. She is definitely assertive and dominant. She sleeps most of the day. She is very affectionate, especially when she wants to eat! She does jump on the counters a lot. She is very purry. She doesn’t mind being picked up and carried. She loves a cozy spot. She is not destructive. She loves to eat and loves treats. She loves cat toys. She is playful and loves attention! She will definitely come up to you and let you know when she wants to be pet and scratched. She has two different coloured eyes and the sweetest face. I would say that she shouldn’t go to a house with another female cat.

Why is Grizabella Being Rehomed?

I have two female cats. Same mom but different litters. One day they were play fighting and it escalated. One cat got her tail stuck in the sting of the blinds and was freaking out, which in turn freaked Grizabelle (Grizzy) out.

I had to try and get the other cat unstuck from the blinds and it was a whole ordeal with biting and scratching and defecation. Once she was free she ran upstairs and Grizzy chased her and they proceeded to get into another huge fight.

This was several months ago. They have been separated since. I have tried slowly reintroducing them, having them eat together, having them sniff each other through a door and then be in the same room together etc. but once I turn my back Grizzy immediately gets defensive and starts to go at it with the other cat again.

I have three dogs and another male cat and Grizzy has no other issues with them so have a four year old daughter and a baby and Grizzy is fine with both of them too. The fight the two female cats got into has traumatized them and there is just no getting over the trauma. The other female cat is VERY timid and anxious.

We tried rehoming her in October and the new family had her for three weeks. She didn’t come out from under the bed and it just didn’t seem like a great situation for her. They brought her back and she was immediately at ease upon being back in our home with her families surroundings.

Grizzy is much more sure of herself and confident and therefore I think would have an easier time adapting to a new home. I will say I am very upset about the thought of having to give one of my cats away, and I am not taking this situation lightly.

We have tried for almost half a year to get them to be ok with each other and it just is not improving. It is not fair to keep one cat in the basement at all times because they cannot be in the house together. I am also scared that things will escalate and they will end up hurting each other or my kids accidentally.
