Sweet Shelby is a 9 year old Boxer Weimaraner mix (also known as a “Boweimar“) dog for adoption to a special home in Atlanta and vicinity. She is a large dog at 75 pounds, and is very devoted to her humans. Shelby is in good health and is spayed, up to date on shots, house broken and well behaved. She is good with people of all ages and sizes, from tiny babies to seniors. When it comes to other dogs, however, Shelby would rather be an only dog.

It is for this reason that Shelby’s owner has had to make the heart-wrenching decision to find her a loving new home. He recently married, and the union included the addition of another dog into the home. The couple have tried everything to make the dogs co-exist peacefully, including intensive training. Unfortunately, Shelby is destined to be an only dog.
Shelby’s family is dearly hoping to find her a very loving home where she will be cherished and kept safe, happy and healthy for the rest of her life. Shelby’s Personality
Amazing. So smart, affectionate and devoted. Almost human. She just needs a quiet home environment without a lot of coming and going. She, like most dogs, loves to have a strong routine. She wants to know what is going to happen next, from when she will eat, to when she will be taken for a walk, to when it is bed time. She really would be the ideal companion for a senior or retired dog lover looking for a wonderful companion.
Why is Shelby Being Rehomed?
My husband and I each had a dog entering our relationship. Shelby is very attached to my husband and has anxiety when he is around. Shelby has bitten our other dog on two separate occasions as well as my husbands mother’s dog once. The triggers have been toys/food also one occasion when my husband was sick Shelby bit our other dog when she tried to come near him. We put Shelby in bootcamp after the first instance, but it happened again. We have learned to remove triggers and live with it for about 3 years. Now we are expecting our first child in March. We just cannot take the risk with the baby coming. We will have less time to spend watching the dogs and there will most likely be toys and food on the floor more frequently.
Shelby’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
Shelby needs a quiet home with just one or two dog lovers and no other pets or children. In this environment, she would have no issues. A retired couple living in a rural area would be ideal. Shelby is such a loving and devoted dog, and without the triggers that exist in her current home, she will shine, and show you the true meaning of unconditional love.
