Hi, My name is Rocky!

Rocky wire fox terrier for adoption las vegas nevada

Rocky is a gorgeous guy! This purebred dog is a Wire Haired Fox Terrier. He is just 6 years old and very healthy. Rocky weighs 15 pounds and has a long wiry mostly white tri-color coat. Rocky has been fixed, is up to date on shots and micro-chipped. He is house broken and well behaved.

Rocky - purebred wire fox terrier for adoption las vegas 2Rocky has a very loyal and loving personality. He is so smart and trainable! He loves to cuddle with his owners, and has plenty of energy for walks and playtime. He would lay down his life for his family, for sure.

Rocky’s owners love him so much. They are heartbroken to have to find him a new home, but with a 1 year old son starting to explore his environment, it has become clear that Rocky is not compatible with young children. The baby makes Rocky nervous (this is common in many breeds, particularly terriers), and for the safety of both the baby and Rocky, it is necessary to find this sweet dog a home where he can be the one and only – no other pets or children under 12 in the home.

Rocky is considered a hypoallergenic dog breed, and would be a great choice for dog lovers with allergies.

Rocky’s ideal home will be with a single or couple who have lots of time for him. He is used to having a fenced yard to play in. He is crate trained, so would be OK for part of the day on his own, but the owners do not want to see him in a situation where he would spend all day – every day by himself.

Rocky will be rehomed with all of his supplies. The owners would love to hear how he is doing and keep in touch – but only if the new owners are comfortable with it.

Please offer this very deserving dog a loving, forever home today. He can’t wait to charm his way into your heart and home.

Rocky’s Personality

We love how loyal and loving he can be, which is most of the time. We love how smart he is, which would make it really easy to train him, but we don’t have the time right now because we are new parents to our son. We love how well he cuddles and takes naps. We love how active and vibrant he is. We love how protective he is of our family.

Rocky’s Current Home Environment

My wife and I have a 1 year old son and another dog along with Rocky. We live in a home on a quarter acre of land, and we have a doggie door that gives the dogs access to inside and outside whenever they want. However, my wife and I are fearful of Rocky being around our son because of behavior that he has exhibited in the past, so when our son is roaming around the house, Rocky is locked up in our bedroom.

Rocky’s Current Family:

My wife and I are a young couple with a 1 year old son. We both work full time Monday-Friday, so our son is in daycare every day, and we get to enjoy our weekends together as a family.

Rocky’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Rocky loves squeekers, Natural balance dog food and treats, pineapple, cream cheese, ice and he loves going for walks/runs and playing fetch.

Cute Rocky Story:

Although Rocky shows aggression and dominating characteristics toward our son, and us, he still sleeps at the top of the stairwell “protecting” our son since that is the closest we allow him to get to our sons room. Rocky used to sleep in his own bed in our room, but one morning I woke up early and noticed he wasn’t in our room. I looked around the house downstairs to see where he was and couldn’t find him. I started to walk up the stairs and when I got halfway up there, I noticed he was sleeping at the top of the stairwell where we have a gate that blocks access to the rooms and the loft.

Why is Rocky Being Rehomed?

Personality conflict with our son.

Rocky’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Active owner with no other pets and no young children living in the home. Preferably someone with experience with wire-haired fox terriers.

Additional Comments:

We have tried to re-home Rocky 2 times already, and both times the couples have asked us to take him back. It is too hard on not only Rocky, but my wife and I as well, mentally. This is a very difficult decision that makes us feel like a failure as parents in a way, but we know that if Rocky is in a good home, then it would be best for everyone. My wife and I would not have the stress of worrying about our son, our son would not be in harms way, and Rocky would be able to live life a little more free and not worry about getting in trouble.
