Here’s how the process works for pet owners in Memphis and surrounding areas:

  1. Submit a Rehoming Request: Complete our rehoming intake form to tell us about your pet and your goals for finding them a new home.
  2. Create a Pet Profile: We’ll create a compelling adoption profile based on the information you provide, highlighting your pet’s best qualities to attract ideal adopters.
  3. Ongoing Promotion: We actively promote your pet on our website, across popular pet adoption sites, and on social media — and we continue marketing your pet until a loving new home is found, no matter how long it takes.
  4. Screen Potential Adopters: Every interested applicant completes a detailed adoption application, which we carefully review to assess compatibility, lifestyle, and commitment.
  5. Facilitate Introductions: We assist you in coordinating safe, private meetings with pre-approved adopters so you can personally meet the families interested in your pet.
  6. Adoption Agreement: Once the right family is selected, we provide a comprehensive adoption agreement to protect your pet’s future welfare and ensure a clear, secure transition.
  7. Transition Support: We guide both you and the new owner through the transition process, offering tips to reduce stress and help your pet settle comfortably into their new home.
  8. Ongoing Support: We offer post-adoption support (included with the Standard and Premium packages) to help ensure your pet’s long-term success and happiness in their new home. We’re  also there for you, should you need a compassionate shoulder to lean on at any time throughout the process.

You stay fully involved throughout the process — and you make the final decision about who adopts your pet.

  • Allergies: Development of pet allergies within the household, particularly affecting children or seniors.
  • Financial Hardship: Loss of income, rising costs, or unexpected expenses making pet care unsustainable.
  • Behavioral Conflicts: Pet not getting along with other pets, small children, or adapting poorly to household changes.
  • Time Constraints: Demanding work schedules, travel, or lifestyle changes that leave pets without enough attention.
  • Senior Pets: Owners looking for special homes for aging pets when they can no longer provide adequate care.
  • Rescue Situations: Taking in a pet temporarily but unable to commit long-term.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How does the rehoming process work?

Once you complete our intake form, we’ll review your pet’s profile and set up a call to discuss your situation. If you choose to move forward, we’ll begin promoting your pet to pre-screened adopters through targeted advertising and social media outreach.

Is this a shelter or rescue?

No — we’re a private pet rehoming service, not a rescue or shelter. Your pet stays with you throughout the process until we help you find the right home.

Why is there a fee?

We don’t receive donations or public funding. The rehoming fee helps cover the cost of personalized support, advertising, screening applicants, and guiding you through every step.

Will my pet miss me?

Pets can experience a period of transition, but we focus on finding homes where your pet will be deeply loved and well cared for. We also help adopters ease the transition with tips and gradual adjustment strategies.

How can I cope with the grief of rehoming my pet?

Rehoming a beloved pet is an emotional experience. We’re here to offer compassionate support and resources to help you process your decision. You’re not alone, and what you’re doing is an act of love.

What if the adoption doesn’t work out?

If the new home isn’t a fit, we’ll rehome your pet again at no additional cost. We stand by you and your pet every step of the way.

How do I get started?

Just fill out our intake form to tell us about your pet. Once we review it, we’ll be in touch to set up a time to talk.
