Meet Odin, Sphynx Cat For Adoption in PHILADELPHIA Pennsylvania

Odin is a drop-dead gorgeous male Sphynx cat for adoption in Philadelphia. He has the most amazing light green eyes, and the large ears and expressive face that make the breed so popular. Odin loves his people with all his heart, and is also good with other, cat-friendly pets. He does well with respectful, older children, too. Odin loves to play, bird watch from sunny windows, and bask in the glow of your sheer adoration of him. He is an Instagram star in the making; a true Prince of the feline world.

Odin is very healthy, fixed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and litter box trained. He is strictly and indoors-only cat, and has some special requirements for his unusual coat, which has light, downy hairs. Odin is considered to be a hypo-allergenic cat. Odin is just 3 to 4 years of age and weighs about 10 pounds.

It is very rare that a cat as special as Odin is offered for adoption. His family, who adore him, are having to make this difficult decision for Odin as he is having litter box issues which started with the addition of a new baby to his home. Why this causes some cats to begin marking is a mystery, and a very common one. We believe that cats just do not know what to make of babies. They make an awful lot of noise, they smell funny, and they take up so much of their owner’s time. Possibly marking is a cat’s way of saying “Hey Mom, I’m your baby”.

As a result of his current marking issues and with regard to his happiness, Odin’s owners hope to find him the perfect home where he will  be loved unconditionally, treated with great care and compassion, and cherished for the incredibly special feline that he is.

If you would like to offer Odin his forever home, please apply online using the link directly below. Once your application is reviewed, we will ask Odin’s owners to reach out to you to answer any questions and arrange for a mutually convenient time for you to meet Odin.

All About Odin – Sphynx Cat For Adoption in PHILADELPHIA Pennsylvania

Name of Pet: Odin
Location: PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, 19146
Type of Pet: Cat
Breed of Pet: Sphynx
Color / Coat Type: Nude / grey
Age of Pet: 3-4 years
Size of Pet: Small – 10-12 lbs
Health Problems: No
Behavior Issues: Yes
Right now, he has been peeing outside his litter box. The reason behind this (we suspect) is the addition of a new child to our family. We welcomed baby #2 into the world in November and he has been intermittently having incidents of peeing where he is not supposed to.

He behaved this way after our older child was born as well… However I had more time to manage it than I do now. He went back to his litter box once my daughter was 6 months old.
Gets along with: Babies, Toddlers, Small Children, Older Children, Dogs
Pet is: Neutered, Microchipped, Litter Trained
Food: Other
He usually eats Rachel Ray brand. He likes the chicken flavor.

He has access to food at all times. Because he is hairless, he needs to be able to eat to maintain his warmth and energy. He metabolizes quickly to stay warm.

Odin’s Personality

Odin is very loving. He loves to cuddle and will purr and rub on those who show him affection. He is very social and looked to be where his people are. He especially loves men with beards as he enjoys rubbing himself on beards ?

He loves to sleep in a bed with someone but has been trained to also sleep in a cat hut.

He is great with other animals (we also have a dog he plays with) and he is good with our kids. He DOES NOT antagonize them and has even let my daughter pick him up on occasion. He ignores my baby and never acts out towards my children. He had scratched my daughter trying to get away from her before, but it has always been incidental and not purposeful.

I am not sure how he would do with other cats as we have never had another cat in our home.

Overall he is an amazing pet. My husband and I will be sad to see him go because he is so unique and loving. We are simply at a stage where we cannot manage everything in our life.

He requires care and upkeep that is nontraditional for a cat. He must be bathed to care for oils on his skin (Odin does well in the bath and doesn’t fight it. He likes warm baths and often tries to climb in my daughter’s bath). He also requires ear cleanings more frequently as oil builds up in his ears.

Please know anyone who wants to adopt him must be aware of those special needs.

Why is Odin Being Rehomed?

My husband is a resident and works long hours and I am a stay at home mom to two young children. Our cat loves attention and needs petting and love every day. My husband and I can no longer meet his needs and we feel he might be happier in a home where he can get a lot of attention.

Odin’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Because of his territorial behavior, Odin needs to be the only “baby” in the home. His ideal home will be with one or two adults who live a quiet life with a strong routine. They need to have lots of time for Odin, and patience in case it takes a while to reintroduce proper litter  box habits. This can be accomplished very easily, and this marking may not even be an issue in the right home.
