Stunning Purebred American Akita Dog For Private Adoption Near Seattle WA
Kodi is a Male American Akita Dog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Maple Valley, Washington. This very special purebred Akita dog is 15 months old and weighs 80 lbs.
This stunning young dog is as loving and affectionate as he is handsome and healthy. He has been neutered and is up to date on shots. He is micro-chipped and will come with all supplies and vet records.
Kodi’s owners are sad to have to find their dog a loving new home. Unfortunately, giving Kodi the care, attention, playtime and exercise is difficult to do in their current home with it’s very small yard, and with their busy schedule with work and child care.
They see how sad Kodi seems when he is crated while they are at work day after day. They want him to have a home with Akita lovers who will cherish him and give him everything he needs in the way of exercise, care, attention and unconditional love. He is a very special dog and will give back everything he receives ten-fold. The right new home for Kodi will be familiar with larger breeds with strong “alpha dog” tendencies. Please don’t try to add him to your home if you have other dogs, or no experience with akitas or similar breeds.
If you have been hoping to adopt an Akita, and have the right home and schedule to care for Kodi, please offer him a home today. He can’t wait to meet you, and charm his way into your heart and home, Adopt Kodi today.
There is a $300.00 adoption processing fee. Supplies and vet records will be included.

We love his beautiful coat. We love the fact he tucks his paws underneath his body sometimes when he lays down. We love his wide receiver imitation when he catches his toys out of the air with is mouth. We love the way he reaches with his paws to get your attention when you are playing with him. We love his curiousity.
Kodi gets excited to see you and nips when he tries to lick you. Not really a behavior issue, but we trained him to lick by saying “no bite” or “biseto” (kiss in Spanish). Then he starts licking you. 🙂
Kodi‘s Current Home Environment
We have a medium sized home with a small fenced in yard. We have both carpet and rug on the bottom floor where Kodi roams. Besides Kodi, the home is occupied by 2 adults and 1 child with no other pets. Our home is calm and mellow when it is fully occupied with perhaps kitchen noise and periodic TV noise.
Kodi‘s Current Family:
Family of three besides Kodi.
Kodi‘s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?
Kodi has a variety of chew toys. Some make noise and are chewable. Others are a more durable stuff animal types. There are a few tougher chew toys that have flashing lights when they are chewed on.
Cute Kodi Story:
Kodi loves his chew toys. He has many! One of the cutest things he does is he grabs a toy on his way out of his crate. It is like a toddler needing to have their cuddle toy wherever they go. Sometimes, Kodi will start with one toy, walk by another, then change his mind. He will then drop the one he has in his mouth and pick up the 2nd toy he just walked by. It is the cutest thing!! You can almost see he is processing which one to pick up.
Why is Kodi Being Rehomed?
Kodi comes from a breed of Akita. They are a larger breed who need a lot of exercise. We cannot always provide that because of the small yard and we can’t always walk him because of our busy home. He is crated when there is no one home, so he gets bored and lonely. We are soon to be relocating and our new location doesn’t allow Akitas.
Kodi‘s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:
We are hoping the rehoming will provide him with a home that can provide a more active, healthier life style. Kodi loves being outside. We hope the family will adore him like we do.
Our child is very attached to Kodi. I put unsure, because we do not want to impose upon his new family. I would imagine our child would enjoy a visit now and then to see how Kodi is doing.
Kodi went through 2 behavior classes when he was younger where the entire family learned and trained him in these sessions. He knows a lot of tricks and understands your intention when you want him to do something. He responds well to food snacks and rewards when he does things you ask him.
He has never been fed table scraps and understands not to beg for food.
You do need to watch where you put small chewable looking personal items. Kodi likes to try to take things like slippers, socks, and hand towels and claim them as his chew toy. When he does, use “leave it” and walk up to him and he relinquishes the item.
He would respond well to clicker training.
