Joey’s Personality

Joey is very lovey, easy-handling, snuggly lap cat we’ve ever had. By himself, he’s an ideal cat. He’s a good eater (when taking the prescription kibble), a good litter box user, and likes to follow you around the house like a puppy. Our only reason for wanting to re home him is because after 8 months of introduction, cat traini9ng, and medication, he simply does not like to co-exist with our female cat (unsure if gender has anything to do with the behavior).

Joey’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Laser light
Stuffed mice
Feather or ball on a fishing pull
Paper grocery bags

Cute Joey Story:

We acquired Joey when my 92yr old uncle moved to a nursing home. When we met Joey, he just layed on top of the couch and slept. he would seek pets for a few minutes and then go off to another room. My uncle said he rarely played with any toys. When we brought him to our home, he became a completely different cat. he’s run through the house, played with all kinds of toys, and wanted to sit on your lap all the time.

Why is Joey Being Rehomed?

Joey just refuses to co-exist with our other cat. I have to keep Joey in my home office which makes work distracting at times.

He needs to be an only cat in a quiet home where he has one or two devoted humans who will give him all the cuddles and attention he craves.

Joey’s Perfect Adoptive Home Will Be:

Joey has lived with seniors for a number of years and without another animal for at least 7 years. I think he’d thrive in a senior home with little noise. Unsure how he’d do with children.

My uncle used to let him outside but Joe is declawed so we keep him in. he’s shown no desire to go out since living with us.

We had no idea Joey’s personality would be so different when he came here. My uncle kept this apartment 85 degrees so we understood why he wanted to go outside.

Joey has 3 wounds where he was shot with a BB gun at some point but doesn’t seem to bother him.

Our vet thinks he may be around 14.

Joey has some health issues such as arthritis and constipation, but they are managed by special diet.

If not for our cat Bella, we’d keep him in a minute. but it’s been very stressful having to monitor every move when we’d try having them in the living room at the same time.

We hired a cat whisperer to work on his behavior and made small strides but not enough for them to co-exist. We’ve also tried medicating him but that made him lethargic and have no appetite. At his stage in life, he isn’t likely to change his ways, so we need to find him a loving home on his own. He is such a sweet boy and will give back so much in the way of purrs and cuddles.   Please find someone for Joey who loves cats and will spoil him for however many years he has left. He deserves it.
