Separation Anxiety

He has no history of biting that I am aware of. He does get anxious around some bigger statue men as he’s used to female company most of his life.

He was attacked as a puppy by a Shepard mix breed so he does suffer anxiety around bigger dogs. I have taken him for behaviour training programs multiple times and is great when he’s use to the same dogs. But new bigger scary dogs seem to set off his anxiety.

He seems to get along fine with cats and other smaller dogs. He somethings butts heads with other alphas but after time seems to get along well with most dogs. He’s been to doggy daycares as well as boarding facilities with no problems.

Gets along with: Adults, dog-friendly cats, small submissive dogs
Pet is: fixed, vaccinated, house broken, leash trained
Food: Other
Arcana dry dog food

He was once a day at night usually around dinner time and 1 cup of food.

I leave food out all day for him but he normally eats at night

Charlie’s Personality

He is a 8.5 year old poodle schnauzer mixed black and white furball. He is approximately 12 pounds.

He does suffer from separation anxiety but is crate trained and house trained. He is a grumpy old man dog but also full of life and love. Once he gets comfortable with you he cuddles up all night and won’t leave your side.

He is in great health and has no medical issues. He is up to date with all vaccines as well. He is also neutered.

He is very scared around kids he doesn’t know so an older adult home would probably be best suited for his needs. He does great with my toddler but I do not let my daughter get too close without direct supervision.

He has lots of energy and does not look like a senior dog at all.

He spends most of his day napping on his bed but likes to go for walks and play catch with his ball and squeaky toys.

Please let me know the next steps in finding Charlie a new home that will love him for the second half of his life.

Why is Charlie Being Rehomed?

Due to severe allergies my 2 year old is developing, we have decided to do the heart breaking thing of rehoming our dog Charlie.

We have to keep my daughter and dog separated so she doesn’t react to his saliva or dander and I hate having to keep Charlie away from us in a designated area of the house. I’ve been paying for cleaning services to come to help control the allergies but it doesn’t seem to help much. He doesn’t shed his hair but he likes to lay on the couch when we aren’t looking. We never use to have to restrict him from the furniture or bedrooms until my daughters allergies developed.

He deserves a home where he has free range and not the constant worry about how my daughters health is going to be impacted by his presence in our home.

He’s such an amazing boy. Even with his anxiety he is a great companion and we just want what is best for him.

Ideally a home with older adult children or retired persons would be a great fit for our boy.

Sincerely, a heart broken fur mom.
