Allergies. She has allergies that require ongoing treatment. While this is moderately expensive (about $100 per month), recent financial distress has made it unaffordable for her family.
Potty Training Difficulties. Like many Bichon Frise dogs, Tofu is having difficulty grasping the nuances of potty training. While she is making good progress, she continues to have accidents on the carpet. She is going to need an owner experienced with potty training small fluffy white dogs, who can help her learn through patience, perseverance and praise. Bichons are very smart dogs and Tofu is no exception. With an owner who can focus on training her and is home with her most of the time, training should be more than possible.
Coprophagia: Tofu has developed a tendency to ingest poop. Her owners are working with her on this issue, and she is learning to “leave it”. Her new owners need to be aware of this issue so that they can continue efforts to put an end to this behaviour and perhaps further investigate the causes. There are many things that can be done to help dogs with this issue, including dietary supplements, positive behaviour training methods and more.
All in all, Tofu is a very special little dog with a lot of love to offer the right new owner. Ideally, her new owner should be someone who stays home and can give her all the love and attention she craves and attend to her training.
