Meet Bandit and Dolly May, Border Collie Mix Dogs Seeking Foster Home in Indianapolis IN

Meet Bandit and his best friend, Dolly May. These two amazing Border Collie mix dogs are in need of a loving foster home for the next couple of years while their owners, a young couple, are working in Thailand.

The owners love their dogs so much, and finding out that they will not be able to bring them along to Thailand has been hard for them.

They are dearly hoping to find dog lovers who would be willing to enjoy the dogs in their home, and keep them safe, happy and healthy until the owners return.

The owners will pay for all of the dogs needs; food, treats, toys, veterinary care and (if needed) pooper scooper services. They are also able to offer small monthly gratuity of $150 in appreciation of the foster family’s time and effort in caring for the dogs.

While the owners currently live in Indianapolis Ohio, they are willing to consider offers for foster care from families in upstate New York (Rochester), where they have family, or anywhere within a reasonable distance of Indianapolis.

Bandit and Dolly May’s Perfect Foster Home Will Be:

We are looking for a foster home with no other pets. While our dogs do great with kids historically, they may adjust better to a quiet home. A house with a fence would be ideal, but we have lines that we use when no fence is available. We would love a home that would make sure they got exercise each day and plenty of love.

We would also like a smoke-free home, especially with Dolly May’s allergies.

If you would like to offer a foster home to these sweet, healthy and happy Border Collie mix dogs, please reach out to our dog rehoming team for more information.

We look forward to speaking with you.

A $150 monthly gratuity will be paid to the foster family in appreciation for caring for these wonderful dogs. All supplies and vet care will be covered by the dogs owners.

Bandit and Dolly May’s Personalities

1) We love cuddle time.
2) We love their curiosity when we go on walks.
3) We love that we feel safe with them in our home.
4) We LOVE how excited they get to see us when we come home (run to Dani, run to Caleb, run to Dani, run to Caleb).
5) We love how quick they are to train with specific commands. (They know bed, potty, treat, lay down, up, come here, out, stay. They are not allowed on furniture unless invited by us.We are still working on not jumping on people out of excitement, and heel.)

Bandit and Dolly May’s Current Home Environment

We have been living in 1-2 bedroom apartments. Even though we don’t have much space, they are content as long as they get exercise outside and plenty of love/attention.

Bandit and Dolly May’s Family:

We do not have kids, but they have been around all 5 niece/nephews at once and have been perfectly fine. They love the kids. Dolly May has gone to basketball games and has been perfectly calm. We both work as teachers so they are home alone during the day.

Bandit and Dolly May’s Favorite Toys, Foods, Activities?

Bandit loves red toys (usually Kong brand). He has an inside ball, and other toys that we hide around the house for him to find. Bandit also loves to chase tennis balls outside. Dolly May doesn’t give much attention to toys.

They both love shed water buffalo antlers, bones with stuffing inside, and shed deer antlers. They are strong chewers so we have specific types we get that will last longer than an hour. They also both love to go on walks.

Bandit: There was one week that Dani was really sick and had to stay home. Bandit parked himself next to her on the bed and didn’t leave her side at all. He was so worried and wanted to make sure she was okay.

Dolly May: When we first adopted Dolly May, she hadn’t seen a screen door before and within 2 minutes of getting her inside, she ran into the screen door and accidentally knocked it down. Needless to say, we make sure to put something on the screen so she can see it now. 🙂

Why are Bandit and Dolly May Being Fostered?

We have accepted jobs as teachers in Thailand for the next 1.5 years. Unfortunately, there are so many stray dogs and small apartments that we feel it would be too difficult for them to come with us. We need to find a foster home to take care of them until we move back.

Additional Comments:

We will be back during the summer for June and July, as well as home for several weeks at Christmas. We have family near Toledo, OH; Muncie, IN, and Rocester, NY. We would love to find a home near one of these areas, but would definitely be open to other areas as well. We would love to be able to briefly say hi to them while back in the US. (Obviously, we wouldn’t want to intrude though!)
