Dolly is such a beautiful girl… those ears!

Welsh Corgi Mix Dog for Adoption in Calgary, Alberta

Looking for a Welsh Corgi mix dog to adopt in Calgary, Alberta? Just 3 years old and weighing 12.9 kg, Dolly has been fixed, obedience trained, crate trained and fully vaccinated. She is good with babies, small children, older children, new people, dogs, and small animals.

Dolly is such a good girl. She is sweet, super smart, good with kids and other dogs, and a pleasure to be around. She loves to go out for a walk or to romp in the back yard, but she also enjoys curling up on the sofa with her favorite human. Last December, Dolly suddenly had a seizure out of nowhere. This happened two more times that month, which prompted a visit to the veterinarian. After testing her, the vet has diagnosed her with Idiopathic Epilepsy, a condition that is common in Corgis.

The good news is that with medication she will be able to live a normal life mostly free of seizures. She will need regular yearly checkups, but the medication should keep her feeling great and seizure-free.  Because they have 3 small children, Dolly’s owners have had to make the difficult decision to rehome her.

Dolly’s owners are hoping to find a new home for Dolly where she will be cherished and kept safe, happy, and healthy for life. She will do best in a home with a strong routine and a quiet environment. Active retired dog lovers will be perfect for her, providing they have a fenced back yard for her to call her own.

Dolly’s Personality

Dolly is a very happy, funny, playful, sassy, sweet natured dog.

Why is Dolly Being Rehomed?

We are a very young and busy family with 3 little girls under the age of 5. We simply don’t have the capacity to give her the level of love and care she deserves, ensuring she doesn’t miss her meds or to just to be able to spend the time with her to play. We also worry that one of our kids could be bitten if she ever were to relapse for a moment when we aren’t around and one of our kids may not understand what’s happening. We have a 1,2 and 5 year old.
We are desperately hoping to find her a new home that can help give her the attention and care she truly deserves.

We would ultimately love for Dolly to be placed in a home where she isn’t being left for long periods in the day (ie. when someone may have to go to work outside of the home) due to the fact she may relapse. We would love for the family to be active enough that she would be walked properly, otherwise she becomes destructive and chews things out of boredom. It would be best if she avoids a family with young children. We don’t know how she would do with cats as she’s never been exposed to them.
